If you hate research, but you love being creative and piecing together the artistic vision for videos, you’ll thrive in this opportunity.
All of the research for each video is done for you.
This is not the typical writing job. Only 10-20% of the scripts are VO. Most of the job is cutting out the most interesting quotes from the research doc (again… done for you), and compiling them in a way that’s most entertaining and digestible for the viewer. This includes chopping up and combining the best parts of quotes.
You also will be, especially in the intro and first 2 minutes of the video, giving artistic direction to the editor. You must have a creative vision of how the video flows and the clips are cut together.
The channel:
Our YouTube channel is called ScreenPuff. We create high quality Netflix-style documentaries about the stories surrounding TV and film. This includes the successes, failures, production, casting, ideas, as well as actors, writers, and directors. As a cinephile myself, I’ve watched and studied countless shows and films for years, and have a passion for it.
My experience:
I’m a Canadian who’s been working in business for over eight years, with a background in consulting, sales, and operations. I built a book of business from the ground up, generating more than $1 million in value, so I understand the level of effort and resources it takes to succeed.
Combining my unique knowledge of the niche, with my business acumen, I’m confident the results we’ll achieve.
Are you the right fit…
We’re not looking for an average, run-of-the-mill employee who’s just in it for the money. We want someone who shares our passion for authentic, high-quality content. Someone with a creative eye and a strong drive to improve. I’m always there to support and help you grow, but I also like to give you space, so the more you can take ownership of the work and the process, the better.
Having a passion for TV & film would make this role a great fit for you. Bonus points if you happen to have a vast knowledge about the space, and have watched tons of TV and movies. Just some of my favorites: South Park, Friends, Breaking Bad, Mad Men, Scarface, Fight Club, Forrest Gump, Titanic, Dark Knight, Wolf of Wall Street, Pulp Fiction (anything by Tarantino or Scorsese).
Also bonus points, if you have a strong understanding and connection with English-speaking / western culture… this means the little nuances, expressions, and cultural references. You automatically have this if you lived most of your life in, or were born in:

- Australia
- New Zealand
- Ireland
- (sometimes Europe)

We’re looking for someone who wants to grow with the company; someone ambitious, collaborative, and ready to take on more responsibility as we scale, and even take profit-share in the future as you become a manager, and we spawn more channels.
Requirement: Minimum 3 videos a month (up to to 6)
Compensation: $50-$200 per video depending on your qualifications / skill. Raises based on performance.
