Forbes Vetted is seeking a Temporary Kids & Baby Gear Editor to join our team from February 2025 to August 2025. The role will be responsible for writing and editing Forbes Vetted kids and baby gear content, which includes product guides and reviews, product/brand comparison stories, news, how-to guides and product odes. It also requires some firsthand product testing, as well as managing the workflow and progress of panel testing. The ideal candidate is a subject matter expert in parenting, with a particular expertise in baby and kids gear and products; they’ll come with at least 5 years of experience writing and editing content on consumer products and 3 years of experience covering kids and baby gear or parenting content. The Temporary Kids & Baby Gear Editor will work closely with our updates and strategy editors to optimize evergreen content and collaborate with the deals and special projects teams. This role reports to the Forbes Vetted Deputy Editor, Baby & Kids Gear.
This is a remote role with an option to commute to the Jersey City Forbes office if desired
Responsibilities:
- Writing and editing articles within the Kids & Baby Gear vertical, with topics including strollers, cribs, nursery items, kids clothing and shoes, toys and maternity and postpartum products
- Adhering to the daily and weekly publish schedule outlined by your section lead by publishing articles in a reliable, timely manner, and potentially helping to organize and plan the section’s content schedule
- Following teamwide best practices, formats, standards and house style guidelines
- Frequent collaboration across teams, including with strategy, data, audience development, partnerships and product, as well as more senior and junior editors
- Attending and participating in virtual team meetings and contributing to Forbes Vetted’s positive, friendly culture
- Contributing to coverage during a limited number of “tentpole” sales events, which could include shifts outside normal business hours and on holiday weekends; examples include Memorial Day, Labor Day and Amazon Prime Day
- Potentially contributing to Forbes Vetted’s social media platforms as the editing schedule allows
The ideal candidate:
- Is a seasoned parenting journalist, with 5+ years of editorial experience and 3+ years of experience writing and editing topics in the baby and kids space for a commerce or editorial publication (required)
- Is a strong writer, editor and reporter who turns in clean, well-researched copy
- Has direct prior experience writing and editing product reviews, ideally including hands-on testing
- Has a strong understanding of SEO and search best practices
- Is exceptionally reliable and able to meet our daily and weekly publishing schedule
- Has a network of PR contacts in the kids/baby industry
- Is a quick study who is able to pick up on a team’s norms, standards and tools; isn’t afraid to switch gears when needed, performing story-related tasks like selecting and templatizing a lead image
- Has experience with Monday or other planning and collaboration tools
- Is familiar with and adept at navigating internal content management systems (CMS) and online publishing platforms
The hourly rate for this role is $50.00 – $80.00
