Financial Writer
Job Title: Senior Financial Writer, Developmental Editor & Research Partner
Location: Remote
Type: Contract
The Role
We are looking for a world-class writer / developmental editor to work directly with our CEO—a veteran trader—to write, shape, research, and polish market analysis and opinion pieces.
This is not a standard copy-editing role. You will act as a strategic partner, helping to translate complex trading theses into compelling, rigorous, and widely read articles. You will be part writer, part editor, part researcher, and part writing coach.
Sometimes you’ll be sent a bunch of notes and expected to turn them into a coherent thesis. Other times you’ll be given a longer written piece and asked to help restructure and edit it.
This role is part-time on an as needed basis with compensation paid for each thesis / article completed.
Most often, our CEO works on articles during the weekend so you’ll need to be available to work weekends with him.
The right candidate:
We are looking for an excellent writer who has 7+ years of experience in financial journalism. Ideally someone who’s written for a financial publication such as: Bloomberg, The Wall Street Journal, Barron’s, The Financial Times, The Economist, Reuters, Dow Jones, or Morningstar.
Compensation:
Compensation will be provided for each project individually (not hourly / salary).
What to include with application (send to recruiting(at)parabolicsurf.com)
- Send your resume
- A brief description of why you think you’re a good fit for the role
- Examples of relevant pieces that you’ve written or edited. Relevant pieces are long-form, analytical financial content (theses, opinion pieces, special reports, or deep-dive features).
