Sprout Social is seeking a driven, strategic Email & Marketing Automation Strategist to fuel our global email marketing efforts and own the end-to-end strategy for in-trial communications across the customer journey.

What you’ll do
- Develop and execute email marketing strategies aligned with business and revenue goals.
- Plan, build, test, and optimize automated email programs across the customer lifecycle.
- Own the end-to-end strategy and execution of in-trial communications for Sprout’s 30-day free trial.
- Build persona- and behavior-based journeys that drive activation, engagement, and trial-to-paid conversion.
- Collaborate with copywriters and designers to produce clear, compelling, on-brand email content.
- Execute and monitor campaigns in marketing automation platforms, optimizing in real time based on performance and deliverability.
- Manage list health, segmentation, and compliance to deliver personalized experiences at scale.
- Analyze campaign performance and translate insights into actionable improvements.
- Partner with Growth, Product, and Marketing Operations to ensure customer and behavioral data is effectively leveraged.
What you’ll bring
Sprout Social is looking for a proactive, detail-oriented marketer with strong technical and analytical skills who thrives in a fast-paced environment and turns strategy into action.
The minimum qualifications for this role include:
- 2-4+ years of experience in B2B marketing operations or marketing automation.
- Hands-on experience building email campaigns in Marketo, Eloqua, Pardot, or a similar MAP.
- Experience working with Salesforce CRM.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects and execute with precision.
- Ability to clearly communicate the impact of email programs using performance metrics.
Preferred qualifications for this role include:
- Experience driving trial-to-paid conversion in a product-led growth environment.
- Strong data acumen and familiarity with email performance metrics and reporting.
- Solid understanding of email UX, design, and deliverability best practices.
- Experience with testing frameworks and conversion optimization.
How you’ll grow
Within 1 month, you’ll plant your roots by:
- Learning Sprout’s product, customers, and funnel, with a focus on trial sign-up and activation milestones.
- Building relationships across Marketing, Growth, Product, Sales, Design, and Operations.
- Auditing existing in-trial communications and email programs within Intercom and Marketo.
- Aligning with Revenue Marketing leadership on KPIs, priorities, and success metrics.
Within 3 months, you’ll start hitting your stride by:
- Conducting a full performance audit of current in-trial email communications.
- Defining a data-driven framework for a new, high-converting in-trial email strategy.
- Finalizing data and segmentation requirements needed to execute effectively in Marketo.
Within 6 months, you’ll be making a clear impact through:
- Launching a fully rebuilt in-trial communications strategy within Marketo.
Completing technical setup, QA testing, and documentation of all programs and logic. - Establishing robust reporting to measure impact and share results with stakeholders.
Within 12 months, you’ll own the outcome by:
- Driving sustained improvements in trial-to-paid conversion through continuous testing and optimization.
- Expanding engagement strategies beyond email into new personalized channels where appropriate.
- Regularly communicating performance insights and strategic recommendations to leadership.
- Proposing and executing a new automation or data-driven marketing initiative that creates meaningful business impact.

Individual base pay is based on various factors, including whether you’re located in Zone 1 or Zone 2, as well as relevant experience and skills. In the United States, we have two geographic pay zones. For this role, the expected base pay ranges for new hires are:
- Zone 1 (New York, California, Washington): $75,240 – $112,860 USD annually
- Zone 2 (All other US states): $68,400 – $102,600 USD annually
