Writer with Real Firearms Experience (Contract to Potential Part-/Full-Time)
We’re looking for a skilled and experienced freelance writer to produce content related to firearms, training, tactics, and the broader defense industry. You’ll be writing for our own company and on behalf of our clients as a ghostwriter, so the ability to adapt your tone and voice to different audiences is critical.
This is a contract position to start, with the opportunity to transition into a salaried part-time or full-time role based on performance and workload.
IMPORTANT: Who We’re Not Looking For
If you’re a casual collector, general gun enthusiast, or hobbyist who doesn’t actively train, this role is not a fit.
We’re looking for someone who lives and breathes the world of firearms—someone who trains regularly, has taken classes, and has real-world insight to share.
Ideal Candidate Has:
- Extensive personal firearms experience, including training under qualified instructors
- Solid writing skills and the ability to explain concepts clearly to both experienced and newer shooters
- Experience with SEO and content marketing (preferred but not required)
- Strong research habits and attention to factual accuracy
- The ability to turn around quality content on deadline and communicate reliably
Content Types You’ll Write:
- Training and tactics articles
- Gear reviews and comparisons
- Thought leadership pieces for instructors or defense industry professionals
- Website and landing page copy
- SEO blog posts
- Email content and occasional lead magnets
What We Want to Know From You:
Please answer the following in your application:
- What’s your personal experience with firearms and training? (Include details like how often you train, what types of training you’ve done, and any relevant background that makes you a good fit.)
- What’s your writing and content creation process like?
- How do you choose or develop topics and keywords?
- How do you conduct research?
- What tools do you use (including AI, if any)?
- How do you structure your writing workflow?
- What are your rates?
- What’s your availability?
- How much content can you comfortably produce per month?
- Are you open to part- or full-time salaried work down the line?
- Share writing samples. (Links to live publications are preferred.)
We’re building a team of professionals who know the difference between just owning guns and actually training with them. If you’re the type of person who’d rather spend your weekend on the range than the couch, we want to hear from you.
