Writer – Long-form Video Scripts (~3,000 words) | Switch and Click – $300-$500 Per Project
We run Switch and Click, a 900K-subscriber channel covering keyboards, desk setups, and consumer tech.
We’re looking for a freelance scriptwriter and full-time scriptwriter to help us create longform YouTube scripts (~16 minutes / ~3,000 words).
You’ll take product notes, research, and briefs, then turn them into conversational, story-driven scripts that feel natural on camera and keep viewers engaged.
Most topics will be mechanical keyboards and consumer tech, ranging from listicles and roundups to deeper product-focused stories.
Expect to write 2–4 scripts per month, with pay starting at $350 per script and opportunities to grow to $500/script and beyond.
Because this role involves hands-on product testing, we are only considering applicants based in the US or Canada. We will ship products directly to you to use in your writing.
Ideal Candidate
- Loves YouTube and understands what makes videos engaging.
- Strong writer with a conversational, approachable voice.
- Can capture humor, relatability, and storytelling. Not just dry product details.
- Able to take research + product experience and shape it into a script with a clear hook and retention-friendly flow.
- Bonus: Prior experience writing YouTube scripts or consumer tech content.
Job Requirements
- Based in the US or Canada (to receive shipped products).
- Ability to write longform scripts (~3,000 words / 16 minutes).
- Proficiency in Google Docs and Notion for collaboration and feedback.
- Strong research skills – able to learn about unfamiliar products quickly.
- Availability to deliver 2–4 scripts per month on deadline.
- Openness to feedback and revisions to align with our channel’s style.
Test: Pick a piece of tech you own. Write a 300-word YouTube intro as if you were opening a 16-minute video about it. Include 3 possible titles.
