Technical Writer- Innovative Product Development – $78,600 – $115,200 a year

We are currently seeking a Technical Writer Innovative Product Development to join our Vapor Design Manufacturing Control team in Richmond, VA but are open to a remote work arrangement.
This role ensures the accuracy, clarity, and consistency of engineering documents while maintaining comprehensive records management for the group. This role is responsible for improving workflows, editing technical materials, upholding documentation standards, and overseeing the organization, retention, and retrieval of records to support compliance and operational efficiency.
What you will be doing:
- Applying the principles of technical editing to develop and implement strategies that improve the quality and accessibility of technical documentation.
- Enhancing technical documentation by integrating AI-driven tools and technologies aligned with FDA’s recommendations on the use of AI to produce information or data to support regulatory decision making.
- Crafting and maintaining style guides, templates, and editorial standards for technical documentation.
- Collaborating with engineers and subject matter authorities to ensure technical content is complete, understandable, and credible.
- Ensuring compliance with internal policies and regulatory requirements for documentation and records management.
- Handling records lifecycle, including creation, classification, retention, and secure disposal.
- Establish training infrastructure, curricula, and measures of proficiency.
- Work closely with Product Development, Quality Assurance, and department managers to identify training needs and priorities.
We want you to have:
- Bachelor’s degree in English, Technical Communication, Engineering, or related field.
- 3+ years of experience in technical editing, preferably with engineering or scientific content.
- Certified Professional Technical Editor certification such as CPTC, preferred.
- Strong understanding of technical editing principles to improve clarity, accuracy, and accessibility of documentation.
- Proficiency in using documentation tools (e.g., Microsoft Word, Adobe Acrobat, XML editors) and collaboration tools (e.g., SharePoint).
- Strong attention to detail and command of grammar, style, and formatting
- Experience with good documentation practices such as ALCOA.
- Familiarity with AI-driven tools and technologies for enhancing technical documentation.
- Ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical team members.
The starting salary is based on but not limited to experience, knowledge, and qualifications in determining compensation decisions. The Salary Range for this position is: $78,600.00 – $115,200.00.
