Technical Writer III – Documentation Specialist
cFocus Software is seeking a Technical Writer III (Documentation Specialist) to support the Security Tools and Infrastructure Modernization (STIM) contract with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS).
The Technical Writer III will provide senior-level expertise in creating, editing, and maintaining technical documentation, ensuring accuracy, clarity, and compliance with federal standards.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain technical documentation including SOPs, system manuals, and user guides.
- Translate complex technical content into clear, concise documentation for diverse audiences.
- Support the preparation of policy documents, compliance reports, and process documentation.
- Work closely with engineers, developers, and program staff to extract and organize technical information.
- Ensure documentation complies with Section 508 accessibility requirements.
- Edit documents for style, consistency, and compliance with federal standards.
- Support proposal development, requirements documentation, and system lifecycle deliverables.
- Maintain version control and documentation repositories (e.g., SharePoint, Confluence).
Required Experience
- 8+ years of professional technical writing experience, preferably in IT or cybersecurity environments.
- Experience developing documentation for federal government programs.
- Proficiency with documentation tools such as MS Word, Visio, SharePoint, Confluence, or MadCap Flare.
- Knowledge of Section 508 compliance and federal IT standards.
- Ability to collaborate with SMEs to produce accurate and detailed documentation.
Education & Certifications
- Bachelor’s degree in English, Communications, Journalism, Technical Writing, or related field (Master’s preferred).
- Certified Professional Technical Communicator (CPTC) certification preferred.
- APMP Foundation/Practitioner certification desirable for proposal-related documentation.
- CompTIA Security+ or equivalent IT baseline certification desirable.
Clearance Requirement
Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a Public Trust (Moderate to High-Risk) clearance.
