Technical Writer II
Pentecom is seeking a Technical Writer II to join our Publication Services team! The Technical Writer II is responsible for creating and/or editing aircraft and/or vehicle technical manuals in accordance with standard military specifications, tools, and processes.
Please note the Technical Writer II position is a full-time, fully remote position.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- May be required to assist the Director of Publication Services and perform the role of Project Lead
 - Project Leads will be responsible for assigning tasks, project timelines, customer interaction, and quality control for a specific project
 - Provides subject matter expert guidance to less experienced Technical Writers
 - Work is accomplished under limited supervision, usually as part of a team and is reviewed by department manager or director
 
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Documentation Creation: Collaborate with subject matter experts (SME’s) to gather information and understand complex technical concepts
 - Creating and Editing: Create and edit maintenance, operator, flight, intermediate or depot level technical manuals and technical documents such as technical orders, change request, supplements, and revisions
 - Review and Feedback: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather feedback on documentation and make necessary edits
 - Standard Implementation: Conducts reviews and ensure that all documentation is compliant with standard military and/or S1000D specifications
 - Adhere to Pentecom security policies and procedures
 
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Must possess technical writing and grammatical skills; be able to transcribe complex information from engineering source data such as drawings, parts list and can delineate and integrate operating procedures and production sequences and details
 - Demonstrate previous experience in creating and editing maintenance, operator, flight, intermediate or depot level technical manuals and technical documents such as technical orders, change request, supplements, and revisions
 - Demonstrate previous experience with data formats such as SGML, XML, S1000D, Adobe, and Microsoft Word
 - Must possess advanced F-15 knowledge, experience and recognized ability to be considered an expert in their technical fields (Avionics,Electrical, Weapons or Crew Chief)
 - Must be familiar with USAF field and depot-level maintenance activities, USAF technical data, material qualification and acquisition systems, and USAF maintenance policies and programs
 - Knowledge and experience in updating repair, inspection and illustrated parts data of Country Standard Technical Orders (CSTO) for F-15general systems is required
 - Working knowledge of applicable military standards and specs is required (MIL-STD 38734, S1000D, etc.)

Education and Experience:
- Typically requires an associate degree
 - F-15 aircraft maintenance work experience may substitute for education requirement. Each 2 years of related experience is equivalent to one year of college.
 - Requires a minimum of 3 to 5 years of previous experience
 - Years of experience can be substituted for education, or an advanced degree can be substituted for years of experience
 
Special Requirements:
- U.S Citizenship, Secret Clearance is a plus, but not required
 - Must be willing to travel, up to 25%, if required
 - Must be available to work overtime, if required
 - Must be a U.S. Citizen
