Star Trek News, Features & List Writer – $15.66 – $26.93 Per Hou
ComicBook is seeking a dedicated Star Trek expert to join our Movies & TV team as a freelancer to help cover the most pressing and fan-centric news stories, features, opinion pieces and lists each week. We’re looking to become more of a destination for Star Trek fans to find the best coverage.
When applying, you should explain your interest in and knowledge level of Star Trek, and why you want to write about the franchise.
This is a fully remote position with flexible scheduling options and opportunities for advancement when possible.
You Will:
- Compose engaging news and features articles with a focus on what happens and insights into why it matters.
- Compose opinion pieces and lists focused on all of Star Trek lore.
- Work with editors to pitch and develop unique perspectives in order to provide timely coverage of news as it happens, viral trends within Trek, and engaging features that will drive conversations.
- Produce clean, engaging copy requiring minimal edits while working with editors to incorporate feedback into future pieces.
- Bring your knowledge and expertise of Star Trek to the team.
- Coverage of other sci-fi TV shows (both contemporary and older) would be a major advantage too.
- Follow editorial guidelines and adapt writing style to site voice (with plenty of room for personal flourishes) as needed.
- Maintain professional standards of communication within our organization.
You Have:
- Prior publishing experience in journalism or other professional writing fields (technical and/or creative).
- A portfolio of past work for us to review.
- Degree and/or certification in English-related education is a benefit but not mandatory.
- Ideas you’d love to find a home for as well as an appreciation for taking on and owning new sci-fi TV lanes alongside Star Trek.
Evening and weekend availability is advantageous in this position.
