Location: 100% Remote (US Only)
Compensation: $65,000-72,000
Reports to: Content Manager
The Lead Content Writer plays a critical role within the marketing team, producing clear, compelling, and conversion-focused content for Served With Honor and its veteran-serving brands. This role is responsible for writing and refining content across websites, landing pages, blogs, email campaigns, paid ads, and social channels—always with a focus on empathy, accuracy, and impact.
The ideal candidate is a highly skilled and versatile writer with a strong command of written English, an understanding of persuasive storytelling, and the ability to tailor messaging to a veteran audience. This position works closely with the broader marketing and content team, takes creative direction, and contributes to a mission-driven organization focused on improving the lives of veterans. While this role does not currently involve people management, future leadership opportunities may develop over time.
What you will do:
- Write and oversee high-quality content across digital channels: websites, landing pages, blogs, email, paid ads, and social media
- Follow and execute against a content strategy that aligns with marketing goals and veteran audience needs
- Craft content using the hook–story–offer framework for maximum engagement and clarity
- Edit and optimize existing content for grammar, clarity, emotional resonance, SEO, and lead generation
- Format and publish content using WordPress, with a focus on SEO and accessibility
- Support multimedia efforts with clear, concise video scriptwriting as needed
- Create internal communications and event-related content such as announcements, invites, and updates
- Collaborate with cross-functional departments to support marketing campaigns and initiatives
- Stay current on veteran-related topics, content marketing best practices, and evolving SEO trends
- Support other copy and editing needs from HR, executive leadership, and internal teams as needed
What you will bring:
- 3+ years of experience in content writing, copywriting, or digital marketing
- Demonstrated excellence in: Website and landing page copy, Ad copy (e.g., Google, Facebook, LinkedIn), Email and social copy
- Hook–story–offer copywriting
- Strong command of written English and grammar, with high attention to detail
- Ability to write empathetically for a veteran and military-connected audience
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to both take direction and lead content execution independently
- Experience with Microsoft Office tools (Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Comfort working in a fully remote, collaborative environment
- Must provide own home office setup, including: Reliable high-speed internet
Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiarity with SEO tools such as SEMrush, Google Search Console, and Rank Math
- Experience using Google Analytics (GA4) to evaluate content performance and user behavior
- Experience publishing content in WordPress
- Exposure to platforms like Mailchimp, ClickFunnels, and Formidable Forms
- Experience editing and formatting content for lead generation
- Ability to contribute to quality assurance of written work produced by others
