English Writing Competition Instructor
We are a reputable educational institution seeking an accomplished Competitive Writing Instructor to cultivate excellence in student writers. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in preparing students for prestigious English writing competitions (e.g., Scholastic Art & Writing Awards, John Locke Essay Contest, international Olympiads).
Responsibilities:
- Design and deliver specialized curriculum focused on competitive writing genres (argumentative, analytical, creative).
- Coach students intensively on competition strategies, stylistic precision, and time management.
- Analyze scoring rubrics of major contests and tailor instruction to exceed judging criteria.
- Provide detailed feedback on drafts and mentor students through iterative revisions.
- Track competition timelines and manage submission processes.
Requirements:
- 3+ years teaching advanced writing at secondary/college level.
- Proven track record guiding students to wins/high honors in recognized English writing competitions.
- Deep understanding of competition frameworks (e.g., ESU, Foyle Young Poets).
- Bachelor’s degree in English, Composition, or Education (Master’s preferred).
- Ability to dissect complex prompts and model award-winning techniques.
Preferred:
- Personal history as a competition winner/juror.
- Portfolio of student award certificates.
