Editor, The Future of Work & Leadership
Job Location: Global Remote
Job Type: Contractor, full or part time
Devex is the leading source of career intelligence, workplace trends, and leadership insights for the global development community. Today more than ever, the global development workforce is evolving. From the complexities of localization and technological shifts to the demands placed on executives navigating global crises and business model changes, the transformation happening in our sector is unprecedented and creates important questions for anyone building a career or leading an organization in this industry.
We’re looking for an experienced professional from the global development community who can lend their voice and expertise to those in need of high-level career guidance and leadership strategy. You’ll conduct live video interviews with executives, decision-makers, and workforce experts, author a weekly newsletter in your voice, and host a podcast.
You don’t need to have journalism experience, but you do need to be a top-notch communicator and a compelling writer who deeply understands global development and the macro themes changing our industry (from AI to localization to remote work to changing business models). You’ll use those skills to help build out our Future of Work and leadership content offering and grow our paid Career Account and Pro subscriptions.
This is a role on our membership editorial team reporting to the business editor.
Here’s what you’ll do in this role:
- Host weekly live video conversations with global development leaders, C-suite executives, and career experts.
- Author a weekly newsletter in your voice covering the latest global development news related to workforce trends, executive leadership, and strategic career advice.
- Launch a global development podcast focused on the future of work, organizational transformation, and leadership.
In addition to those core areas of focus, you may also:
- Commission articles and reports looking at key macro trends affecting professionals, hiring managers, and leaders in the world of international development.
- Produce social media posts and marketing emails that showcase our leadership and careers content to help promote our paid Career Account and Pro subscriptions.
- Work with editors to manage a monthly editorial calendar and with the Devex marketing and social media team to source, edit, organize, repackage, and publish new content using multiple channels.
Required Qualifications
- Highly relevant experience as a global development professional which positions you to provide authoritative career, organizational, and leadership advice.
- A wide network of global development professionals, leaders, and executives you can call on for insights and ideas.
- Top-notch communications skills in English — writing, speaking, and interviewing.
Nice-to-haves
- Professional experience in journalism or executive communications.
- A portfolio of blogs, newsletters, podcasts, or other communications products that showcase your skills.
- Experience as a consultant, advisor, or organizational leader.
