Contract Content Editor – From $28 an hour
Overview
The contract Content Editor will work alongside the marketing and customer success teams to develop and edit copy for Church Initiative assets used in its marketing, digital, and print materials.
- Editorial Review & Direction: Review and provide editorial direction on marketing materials, web copy, video scripts, emails, ebooks, articles, and additional materials
- Purpose Alignment: Ensure content meets defined objectives; coach writers to achieve them.
- Collaboration: Work closely with writers, designers, and leadership to elevate messaging and maintain consistency across all channels.
- Content Improvement: Rewrite or generate content when needed to close gaps or improve effectiveness.
- Data-Informed Editing: Use data-driven insights and knowledge of our audiences to make sure marketing copy drives an increase in brand awareness, traffic, engagement, and action.
- Brand & Style Governance: Maintain brand quality and consistency across all content and communication channels.
- Report to the Vice President of Marketing and collaborate closely with the Vice President of Customer Success
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in English, Journalism, Marketing, Communications, or a related field, preferred
- 5+ years of experience editing and writing in marketing and publications
- A portfolio of relevant work, to include a sample of successful marketing writing
- Understanding of Christian audiences: namely pastors and lay leaders
- Able to write empathetically to people dealing with life crises, such as bereavement and divorce
- Proficient in Google Workspace
- Experience leveraging AI tools to create, draft, and refine content
- 2+ years actively using the Chicago Manual of Style
- A meticulous approach to work and highly detail-oriented
- Works well with a team to follow the vision of the organization and leadership
- Able to work on multiple projects at the same time and meet deadlines
