Associate Writer Description
The Associate Writer’s primary role is to write and edit inventory appraisal reports as part of a project team, translating complex business ideas and financial data into clear, concise language. Inventory appraisal reports describe the inventory, operations, industry, and financial trends of a company to explain the strategy for liquidating the company’s inventory in the event of a liquidation sale. Reports are tailored to meet client-specified requirements and are unique to each appraisal subject. Reports include an overview of the appraised company and its industry, a discussion of pertinent finance and business trends, and an analysis of key factors impacting the inventory’s appraised value.
The Associate Writer must exhibit strong research skills and a genuine interest in learning about a variety of companies and industries. This role requires attention to detail and excellent communication skills, as well as synthetization and prioritization skills to produce structured, insightful reports in a timely manner to meet deadlines. The Associate Writer must be able to work independently and be self-motivated, while also possessing the ability to function within a team dynamic.
This is a remote position, with potential for occasional travel to our offices and company functions for professional development and teambuilding events (dependent upon candidate’s current location), as well as potential volunteer travel opportunities for site visits of appraised companies (following sufficient training).
Duties of this position include, but are not limited to the following:
- Write three to four appraisal reports per month
- Review and edit reports for accuracy and consistency in structure, content, style, spelling and grammar, and voice
- Conduct independent company and industry research online
- Attend internal team meetings and external interviews regarding appraisals, contributing as needed
- Integrate all independent research and information obtained from field notes, interviews, and team meetings into appraisal reports
- Use financial exhibits to write about key financial trends
- Research industry trends and assist in the writing of GA Group’s Industry Monitor publications
Education, Experience, and Skills
- Undergraduate degree in English, Writing, Communications, Journalism, or related study
- No prior experience necessary
- Interest and experience in business and finance a plus, but not required
- School newspaper experience a plus
- Superb written and verbal English communication skills
- Excellent analytical skills
- Ability to balance and work on multiple projects simultaneously while providing high quality product
- Strong planning, time management, and organizational skills
- Proficient computer skills, with basic knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Adobe Acrobat, as well as Internet use, email functions, and website applications
