Copywriter — SEO & Conversion
We are a US-based CPA and tax advisory firm building out our content team. We’re looking for a mid-level Copywriter who can move comfortably between long-form SEO articles and sharp conversion copy — someone who writes clearly about complex financial topics without losing the reader, and without crossing into advice territory that belongs to a licensed professional.
Who fits this role
You’ve written for a financial, legal, or professional services brand before — or you’re a strong generalist who can demonstrate that you research before you write. You understand the difference between explaining a tax concept and giving tax advice. You can write a 1,500-word SEO article in the morning and a punchy homepage headline in the afternoon, and both will be good.
This role requires professional-level written English with full command of US grammar, style, and idiomatic usage. A writing portfolio demonstrating this standard is required with your application.
Responsibilities
SEO content writing
- Write long-form articles, service pages, and guides targeting specific keywords, following briefs from the SEO and Content teams.
- Research topics thoroughly using primary sources (IRS.gov, tax publications, official guidance) before writing.
- Naturally integrate target keywords, secondary terms, and internal links without keyword stuffing.
- Structure content with clear H2/H3 hierarchy, scannable formatting, and strong introductions that earn the scroll.
- Write FAQs, meta descriptions, and title tags as part of each page deliverable.
- Update and refresh existing content based on SEO performance data and editorial priorities.
Conversion copywriting
- Write and iterate on landing page copy, service page CTAs, and homepage sections.
- Craft email sequences, lead magnets, and promotional copy aligned with campaign goals.
- Adapt tone and format depending on the audience — individual taxpayers, small business owners, international clients, real estate investors.
- A/B test headlines and CTAs in collaboration with the marketing team.
Accuracy & compliance
- Fact-check all financial and tax claims before submitting — this is a YMYL site and accuracy is non-negotiable.
- Flag any content that ventures into advice territory requiring CPA sign-off.
- Stay current on IRS updates and tax law changes relevant to ongoing content topics.
Requirements
- Professional-level written English with full command of US grammar, idiom, and style — demonstrated through your portfolio.
- 3–4 years of copywriting experience, with a portfolio that includes both long-form content and conversion copy.
- Demonstrated ability to write about financial, legal, or similarly complex topics accurately and accessibly.
- Solid understanding of SEO writing fundamentals: keyword intent, page structure, internal linking, meta copy.
- Strong research skills — you know how to verify a claim before publishing it.
- Ability to follow a content brief and deliver on time without hand-holding.
- Comfortable with WordPress or similar CMS for publishing.
Nice to have
- Background in finance, accounting, law, journalism, or a related field.
- Experience writing for a CPA firm, tax software brand, or financial media outlet.
- Familiarity with IRS terminology and US tax concepts.
- Experience working within a structured editorial and SEO workflow.
What we offer
- Competitive compensation based on experience
- Fully remote, async-friendly work environment
- Steady volume of work across a high-impact financial content niche
- Clear briefs and structured workflow — no guessing what’s expected
- Collaborative team including a dedicated SEO Manager and Content Manager
