Lead Copywriter, Alloy Health – $130,000-$170,000/year
We’re looking for a Lead Copywriter to architect the voice behind a brand changing how women experience menopause and perimenopause. Your first and most important responsibility is to define how we sound everywhere we show up, and build the guidance, guardrails, and examples that let every team produce on-brand copy at scale.
We challenge a medical status quo that has dismissed women for decades, and we do it with clinical rigor and the warmth this moment deserves. The voice you build will be the primary vehicle for that mission — the thing that makes a woman feel seen in a category that has long made her feel invisible. Getting it right matters enormously.
Reporting to the Head of Creative, you’ll turn our mission into a living voice system: principles, tone shifts by channel, do’s and don’ts, and real examples teammates can reach for every day. You’ll also write the highest-impact copy yourself. This is a senior IC role — craft-first, hands-on, and deeply collaborative, in a fast-paced, high-volume environment where we ship and learn quickly.
The right person thinks in systems and writes with a sharp, irreverent edge — without ever losing sight of the fact that you’re writing about women’s health. You obsess over the sentence, but you also know how to codify what makes a great sentence so others can replicate it.
Key Responsibilities
Brand Voice & Tone Architecture
- Define and document our brand voice and tone — principles, personality, humor, and the reasoning behind each choice
- Build and maintain a practical voice system that teammates across marketing, product, clinical, and CX can actually use — with do’s and don’ts, side-by-side rewrites, channel-specific tone shifts, and real examples — and evolve it as the company grows
- Lead voice training and onboarding so everyone producing customer-facing copy understands how we sound and why
- Serve as final voice reviewer on high-stakes work, and as the internal language expert keeping copy consistent, accurate, and compliant
Writing & Campaigns
- Write and edit high-impact copy across the full range: campaign concepts, landing pages, video scripts, product names, subject lines, and push notifications
- Partner with the Head of Creative to concept and execute integrated campaigns across performance, brand, and social
- Support creative positioning for new product launches and service expansions — from naming through go-to-market copy
- Model the voice in your own work so guidelines are grounded in real examples, not abstractions
Collaboration & Mentorship
- Serve as the connective tissue for voice across the business — keeping copy consistent, on-brand, and on-journey wherever we show up
- Collaborate across teams — from designers and video editors to Growth Marketing and CX — to define testing roadmaps, write macros, and align on voice
- Manage, brief, review, and coach freelance copywriters and contractors on the voice system
- Elevate junior writers through review, coaching, and clear standards — without needing direct reports to do it
Performance & Innovation
- Bridge performance and brand — writing that drives immediate conversion while building long-term brand equity
- Write variants, inform testing roadmaps, and bring fluency in conversion principles to everything you ship
- Leverage AI and emerging tools to move faster without losing craft, in a high-volume environment where resourcefulness is a competitive advantage
Education & Experience
- 7+ years of professional copywriting experience across brand and performance, at an agency or in-house team.
- Proven impact in a high-growth DTC brand is a must
- Demonstrated experience building or meaningfully evolving a brand voice system, with artifacts you can walk us through — guidelines, voice decks, training materials
- An outstanding portfolio showing range: integrated campaigns, performance work, product and brand launches, and tone-driven brand writing
- Smart, witty, and clinically sharp — able to distill complex health information into copy that is honest, accessible, and airtight, and comfortable partnering with medical and regulatory reviewers without losing the voice
- Experience mentoring or editing other writers, even without formal direct reports
- Fluency with creative ops and project management tools (e.g., Asana)
- Bachelor’s degree in English, Journalism, Communications, Advertising, or a related field — or equivalent experience
Preferred
- Women’s health, healthcare, or DTC wellness experience strongly preferred — you care about this category, or you’re ready to care deeply
- Experience writing in a regulated category alongside medical, clinical, or legal reviewers
We are focused on building a diverse and inclusive workforce. If you’re excited about this role, but do not meet 100% of the qualifications listed above, we encourage you to apply.
