What You’ll Do
This shining star should have strong journalistic writing skills, with the ability to source compelling information from an interview and produce organized and captivating stories. The writer needs to possess organizational and research skills and be able to communicate effectively with account teams and the content editors to manage requests and priorities that come day-to-day. This person should possess “go-getter” energy and be able to take initiative in a fast-paced environment where expectations are attainable yet high. Our small team does big things for clients! Though not expected to have a significant role in client relations, this person should be prepared for client communications as needed.
Responsibilities
- Write clear, accurate, and well-researched content that supports agency client deliverables, such as, but not limited to: Bylined/contributed articles, Medium/LinkedIn/Substack posts and other blog content, reports and whitepapers, case studies, awards, speaking proposals and speeches, press kits and press releases
- Research industry-related topics using online sources and interviews with experts, presenting strategic ideas for content campaigns
- Stay updated on the latest topic developments and trends by finding, reading and understanding studies, news articles, journal articles and press releases
- Proofread all content before submitting it to content editor for review
- Help maintain account content calendars and planning as scoped for each client, hitting all deadlines
- Attend necessary client calls and manage interview and editing process with the client alongside the team account lead assigned
- Follow AP style
- Ensure content/ideas are not duplicated for clients
- Have a basic understanding of SEO and GEO best practices to incorporate into content for clients
Must Haves:
- Bachelor’s Degree or higher
- 2-3 years writing and editing experience in journalism setting/newsroom
- Experience with management and communication tools such as media databases (Cision, Muck Rack), Slack, Trello, Airtable, Google Workspace
- Experience with LLMs as a research tool only
- Familiarity with social media platforms (Reddit and Linkedin)
- Media acumen, in particular with media outlets that have op-ed sections
