Technical Writer – AI Startup
Position Name: Technical Writer
Location: Remote
Employment Type: Full-time
Notes: Direct Hire. No third-party assistance is approved for this role.
Job Overview: We are seeking an experienced Technical Writer to join our team, focusing on creating compelling and compliant federal proposals, as well as supporting our commercial sales and marketing teams on product write-ups and documentation. This role is critical for communicating Jaxon’s value proposition, technical capabilities, and innovative solutions. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of federal procurement processes, excellent writing skills, experience with AI/ML (beyond ChatGPT or similar), and the ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear and persuasive narratives.
This is a startup environment, meaning we don’t have an extensive library of polished templates like a larger company might. You will be responsible for crafting first drafts from scratch, personally shaping the structure, tone, and content. While a team will assist in getting it to the finish line, you will truly own the entire process: scanning for solicitations, brainstorming approaches, drafting, and editing.
While writing government proposals will be the primary focus of this position, this role will work closely with the operations team, assisting in the creation of Go-to-Market training materials and tutorials for our SaaS product. You’ll be responsible for translating technical white papers and conversations with the engineering team into clear, accessible language for broader audiences, including copy editing investor reports, drafting content for the website, and other documentation as needed.
Key Responsibilities:
- Proposal Writing: Develop, write, and edit high-quality content for federal proposals — including RFXs, BAAs, white papers, and other procurement documents — ensuring compliance and alignment with Jaxon’s strategic objectives.
- Content Development: Collaborate with technical experts, engineers, and leadership to gather information and develop content that accurately represents Jaxon’s technical capabilities, particularly focusing on our DSAIL technology.
- Proposal Management: Manage the end-to-end proposal development process, including timelines, reviews, revisions, and final submission, ensuring all deadlines are met.
- Technical Documentation: Create and maintain a library of reusable content, including technical descriptions, case studies, past performance narratives, and other supporting materials.
- Compliance Assurance: Ensure all proposals adhere to federal standards and guidelines, including formatting, language, and content specifications.
- Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including engineering, sales, legal, and operations, to gather and validate information required for proposals.
- Continuous Improvement: Regularly review and update proposal content and processes to improve quality and efficiency, incorporating feedback from stakeholders and post-submission debriefs.
Qualifications:
- Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience in technical writing, with a focus on federal proposals. Experience in the AI or technology sector is a plus. Demonstrably good writer and communicator and understanding of AI/ML and/or related technologies.
- Knowledge: Strong understanding of federal acquisition regulations (FAR), government procurement processes, and RFX requirements.
- Writing Skills: Exceptional written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical information clearly and persuasively.
- Attention to Detail: Meticulous attention to detail, particularly in ensuring compliance with federal guidelines and requirements.
- Project Management: Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet tight deadlines.
- Collaboration: Proven ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams and build relationships with subject matter experts.
- Technical Acumen: Familiarity with AI technologies, particularly in the area of LLMs, formal reasoning systems, or related fields, is highly desirable.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Education: A bachelor’s degree is required; a master’s is preferred. A strong preference will be given to candidates with an educational background in technology, engineering, or computer science. Candidates with direct experience writing highly technical (ideally AI/LLM-focused) federal proposals are strongly encouraged to apply.
About Jaxon: Jaxon’s is on a mission to make AI trustworthy. Developed through R&D with the U.S. Department of Defense, Jaxon converts complex rule sets—whether from policy manuals, onboarding playbooks, compliance protocols, or SME conversations—into executable logic. It extracts the key ‘questions’ hidden in unstructured docs, builds rule-driven evaluators, and tracks what’s being asked and why. The result: consistent, auditable, and provable reasoning—bringing structure, oversight, and trust to LLM-driven workflows.
