We’re looking for writers for History themed YouTube videos with a gaming twist.
Hey! We’re looking for writers for History themed YouTube videos with a gaming twist.
The videos will have a view time between 10-15 minutes and an average word count of 2000-2500 words and the scripts at $100 to begin with. You will be working alongside a Director with a full script structure which will aid with the writing a great deal aiming for completion within a few days because of the help. Sticking with a consistent schedule of one video per week but open for more as time progresses. And although the concept and starting examples will be given with a structure of what to include in each part, creative control is given of course in terms of techniques used.
Ideal Candidate:
- Mainly a sophisticated understanding of how to present the content in an entertaining way that conveys emotions in the viewers making them interested and in turn, watch for longer.
- Communication is VERY important within the team, as well as punctuality. Please do not continue if you can’t commit long term. A very advanced level in English is required for understanding and writing, although lots of experience in this style is not necessary.
- Someone who understands YouTube quite well, has an interest in researching different topics and seeing them in video format.
- We want to create a solid and serious long-term relationship with our sights set on stepping up our game more and more every time. If you’re a YouTube geek and you love to see your work go through the process, you’ll be perfect.
- Someone who loves history and enjoys digging into historical topics, but can also speak the language of gaming.
- You should be comfortable naturally including gaming terms like “meta,” “nerf,” “buff,” “OP,” or “tier list” when discussing historical events or objects. You don’t need to be a gaming expert, but the terminology should feel natural to you.
- Willingness to improve and take feedback on-board, while feeling confident enough to give your own thoughts on personal improvements
- Ability to complete a script of 2000-2500 words within 5 days, including research and revisions.
- Historical passion > gaming knowledge. To repeat, you don’t need to be a gaming enthusiast per se, but should have the creativity to write lines like:
- “All of a sudden, low-XP players found themselves one-shotting knights. City walls were nerfed, while naval raids became long-range sniping matches.”
Job requirements:
- Writing experience of gaming/YouTube content (So you know how to write for it being read out loud as opposed to just read by a reader). This doesn’t have to be commercial experience, but a portfolio of previous work and a test piece will help a lot.
- Discipline and time compliance. We work with plenty of time so there will never be a rush, but because we work with editors, designers etc. you need to be punctual and commutative.
- Willingness to improve, take criticism and give your own thoughts on improvements. Sometimes what is good on a written piece may not be what is good for a read out loud script for a video. This is where there will likely be the most adapting.
- Potentially part-time to eventually full-time availability.
Please send a DM on here with your initial portfolio and we can discuss more!
Note: I will send an example script so you have all the formatting if we decide to go ahead with it.
