US Based Copy Editor with K12 Copy Editing Experience on Contract

Academian Inc. is seeking meticulous and detail-oriented US based Copy Editors to support one of our projects on a contract basis. The ideal candidate will have strong editorial skills, experience in reviewing and refining content, and a keen eye for grammar, clarity, consistency, and adherence to style guides.

Key Responsibilities:

• Edit and proofread content to ensure accuracy, clarity, consistency, and adherence to project guidelines.
• Review grammar, punctuation, spelling, syntax, and formatting errors.
• Ensure consistency in tone, style, and language across different content types.
• Collaborate with writers, subject matter experts (SMEs), and project managers to enhance content quality.
• Fact-check information and verify sources when necessary.
• Maintain project timelines and meet strict deadlines.

Requirements:

• Experience: 3+ years of copy editing experience, preferably in education, publishing, eLearning, or digital content domains.
• Education: Bachelor’s degree in English, Journalism, Communications, or a related field.
• Skills:
• Strong command of the Chicago Manual of Style (CMOS), AP Style, or other style guides.
• Excellent proofreading, grammar, and formatting skills.
• Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Word, Google Docs, and editorial tools.
• Preferred: Experience in working on K-12, higher education, or instructional content is a plus.
