Technical Writer (Remote Position)
We are seeking an experienced Technical Writer to support the Texas Student Data System (TSDS) by creating and maintaining comprehensive, user-friendly technical documentation that meets agency standards and accessibility requirements. The Technical Writer will play a key role in improving communication between technical teams and end users, while also supporting customer engagement and internal process improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Documentation:
- Create, update, and maintain clear, concise technical documentation related to TSDS applications and data submissions.
- Ensure accuracy and compliance with agency style guidelines and EIR accessibility standards.
- Develop content including, but not limited to, simplified promotion logic guides, known issues, software release notes, and user newsletters.
- Work closely with the Product Owner team to gather and validate technical information.
Customer Outreach Support:
- Assist the Product Owner team during peak TSDS data submission periods by documenting issues and inquiries from Education Service Centers (ESCs) and Local Education Agencies (LEAs).
- Present collected data and findings to product owners, managers, and division leadership.
- Maintain consistent communication with customers to understand their needs, clarify documentation requirements, and resolve concerns.
Internal Best Practices & Process Documentation:
- Research industry standards for process documentation and analyze current Jira practices for inefficiencies.
- Recommend and implement improved documentation methods to enhance team performance and workflow.
- Create internal process documentation and provide training and support to team members to ensure adoption and usability.
