Technical Writer, CGI
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Technical Writer to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for creating comprehensive and user-friendly end-user instruction manuals for our products and services. This role requires a strong understanding of technical concepts and the ability to translate complex information into clear, concise, and accessible documentation for non-technical users.
This position can be located anywhere in the US, but the preferred locations are Fairfax, VA, Lafayette, LA, or Knoxville, TN.
If you are located within 50 miles of a CGI Federal office, a hybrid working model is acceptable.

Develop End-User Instruction Manuals:
o Create, edit, and maintain detailed instruction manuals, user guides, and other documentation for end-users.
o Ensure that all documentation is clear, concise, and easy to understand for non-technical users.
Collaborate with Subject Matter Experts:
o Work closely with product managers, engineers, and other subject matter experts to gather information and understand the technical aspects of our products and services.
o Translate technical information into user-friendly content.
Conduct User Research:
o Conduct research to understand the needs and preferences of end-users.
o Gather feedback from users to improve the quality and usability of documentation.
Maintain Consistency and Quality:
o Ensure consistency in terminology, style, and formatting across all documentation.
o Adhere to company standards and guidelines for documentation.
Update and Revise Documentation:
o Regularly review and update existing documentation to reflect changes in products, services, or user fee
Required qualifications to be successful in this role:
• Bachelor’s degree in Technical Writing, English, Communications, Computer Science, or a related field.
• 5 years of experience as a Technical Writer, preferably in the technology or software industry.
• Proven experience in creating end-user instruction manuals and user guides.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to produce high-quality documentation.
• Proficiency in using documentation tools such as Microsoft Word, Adobe Acrobat, and content management systems.
• Familiarity with graphic design tools such as Adobe Illustrator or Snagit.
• Ability to understand and explain complex technical concepts to non-technical users.
• Strong organizational and project management skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to adapt to changing requirements.
• Ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Desired qualifications/non-essential skills required:
• Experience with HTML, CSS, and basic web design principles.
• Familiarity with Scaled Agile (SAFe) development methodologies.
• Experience in conducting user research and usability testing.
CGI is required by law in some jurisdictions to include a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. The determination of this range includes various factors not limited to skill set, level, experience, relevant training, and licensure and certifications. To support the ability to reward for merit-based performance, CGI typically does not hire individuals at or near the top of the range for their role. Compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range for this role in the U.S. is $62,700.00 – $154,300.00.
