Job Summary: We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Technical Writer with expertise in Cybersecurity, Risk Management Framework (RMF), and Privacy/Security to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing, editing, and maintaining documentation related to security policies, procedures, compliance frameworks, and technical processes. This role requires a strong understanding of cybersecurity principles, risk management, and privacy regulations, along with excellent writing and communication skills.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, write, and update cybersecurity and privacy documentation, including policies, procedures, guidelines, and technical manuals.
- Collaborate with cybersecurity, compliance, and IT teams to document RMF processes, security controls, and risk assessment findings.
- Translate complex security and privacy concepts into clear, concise, and user-friendly documentation for both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Ensure all documentation complies with relevant regulations and standards (e.g., NIST 800-53, FISMA, GDPR, CCPA, ISO 27001, FedRAMP).
- Maintain an organized repository of documentation and version control processes.
- Assist in the preparation of reports, whitepapers, security assessments, and training materials.
- Conduct reviews and updates of existing documentation to reflect changes in policies, regulations, and best practices.
- Work with subject matter experts (SMEs) to verify technical accuracy and completeness of documentation.
- Support audit and compliance initiatives by providing accurate and up-to-date documentation.
- Stay updated on emerging cybersecurity and privacy trends to ensure best practices are incorporated into documentation.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Technical Writing, or a related field.
- 3-5 years of experience in technical writing, preferably in cybersecurity, RMF, or privacy/security domains.
- Strong knowledge of security frameworks such as NIST RMF, ISO 27001, FedRAMP, and compliance regulations like GDPR, CCPA, HIPAA, and FISMA.
- Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills with attention to detail.
- Proficiency in documentation tools such as Microsoft Word, Confluence, SharePoint, MadCap Flare, or similar platforms.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Familiarity with cybersecurity tools, risk assessments, and data protection best practices is a plus.
- Certifications such as CISSP, Security+, CIPP, or related credentials are desirable.
