Description: The Mid-Level Technical Writer/Editor will research, outline, write, and edit new and existing technical content for a Government client, collaborating with various departments on multiple complex work assignments. Operating with appreciable latitude, the successful candidate will independently gather information, develop comprehensive documentation, and maintain style guides, ensuring clarity, accuracy, and compliance. This role requires a minimum of 5 years of technical writing and editing experience, though certifications or past work demonstrating equivalent expertise may be considered, with a proven ability to contribute to deliverables and present effective solutions for complex documentation needs within an Agile environment.
Technical Writer/Editor Job Duties:

Research, outline, write, and edit new and existing content while collaborating with various departments to understand project requirements.

Gather information from subject matter experts independently to develop, organize, and write procedure manuals, technical specifications, and process documentation.

Work with development and support leads to identify documentation repositories, revise and edit content, and determine the best solution for data compilation and centralized storage.

Research, create, and maintain information architecture templates that comply with organizational and legal standards and facilitate easy data migration.

Develop content in alternative media forms to ensure maximum usability, maintaining a consistent and cohesive voice across all documentation.

Ensure all documents follow the organization’s style guide and ensure consistency in presentation.

Maintain the style guide, suggesting revisions as appropriate to reflect changes in documentation practices.

Revise and edit existing documentation to ensure accuracy, clarity, and adherence to best practices.

Create and manage user support/reference guides tailored to various technical audiences.

Ensure all documentation upholds legal and organizational standards and is prepared for easy integration or migration.

Experience working in an Agile organization using Scrum, Kanban, Jira, Confluence, and SAFe.

Provide team specific training as needed.
Security Clearance Requirements: Active Secret (S) required. Candidates must already possess this clearance level upon applying.
Experience Requirements: 5 years of recent relevant experience in fields such as software development, information technology, engineering, scientific research, healthcare, or manufacturing.
Education Requirements: Minimum bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited institution in information security, cybersecurity, computer engineering, computer science, or closely related technical field; or the equivalent combination of experience and training related to task scope and objectives.
Desired Skills / Qualifications: Proven expertise in technical writing and editing, demonstrated through a strong portfolio showcasing the creation of various technical documents (e.g., manuals, specifications, user guides) with exceptional clarity and accuracy, along with proficiency in relevant documentation tools and content management systems; a strong understanding of documentation standards and experience working collaboratively are highly valued
