Title: Technical Writer
Location: Remote location, preference Durham, NC, Texas, Ontario, Canada
We are seeking a technical writer with strong writing skills and a broad familiarity with network and application observability, AIOps or workflow automation. Our product leverages MadCap tooling for authoring and generating the technical documentation, therefore familiarity with MadCap is a plus. The candidate will work largely independently alongside SMEs (subject matter experts) from Engineering, Test and Product teams.
What you will do:
- Compose customer-oriented text based on requirements, interviewing SMEs, and hands-on exploration of products.
- Create technical content following the principles of topic-based authoring to optimize the help system user experience and to provide opportunities for single sourcing and content reuse.
- Plan and manage the document lifecycle and process in an agile SaaS delivery environment.
- Maintain good communication with product management, engineering, quality assurance and support subject matter experts to avoid surprises and ensure timely delivery of high quality user documentation.
What makes you an ideal candidate:
- Minimum of 3 years technical writing experience.
- Solid command of technical writing for complex software and hardware, including a strong interest in perfect grammar and attention to detail. Experience documenting data dense graphical user interfaces.
- Highly flexible and adaptable with the ability to quickly pick up and use new names, labels, terms, and conceptualizations of product functionality.
- Strong verbal communication skills, including listening effectively, interviewing, and gathering information from sources at all levels in the organization, and working with all levels of staff.
- Ability to carry on productive discussions about complex issues fully and clearly in email exchanges.
- Good judgment in identifying solutions to both technical and business problems.
- Can successfully revise priorities and schedules as project requirements change.
- Strong team player.
