Job Summary
The Technical/Security Proposal Writer is a critical member of the Proposal Team, responsible for translating complex technical and security information into clear, concise, and compelling narrative responses for high-value proposals. Collaborating closely with Sales teams and solution architects, this role ensures the accuracy and persuasive positioning of our technical offerings. The Technical/Security Proposal Writer will also develop and maintain reusable technical content and contribute to the continuous improvement of our proposal deliverables.
Key Responsibilities:
Technical Expertise & Communication: Explain complex technical and security information in a clear and concise manner, working closely with the solution team to guarantee the accuracy of all technical descriptions.
Technology Research & Positioning: Comfortably research new and emerging technologies, quickly learn their application, and effectively position our solutions leveraging these technologies in a positive and client-centric way.
High-Value Technical Proposal Writing: Take ownership of writing technical sections for high-value proposals, ensuring content is accurate, compliant, compelling, and persuasive.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate effectively across Marketing, Sales, IT, Technical Services, Architecture, Delivery, and Legal departments to gather and synthesize technical proposal content that aligns with company positioning and accurately reflects our solutions.
Client-Focused Technical Content: Write strong, client-focused technical content that clearly articulates Microsoft’s solution, emphasizing key technical features, benefits, security aspects, and differentiators by incorporating input from internal technical experts, operational teams, and sales leadership.
Style & Standards Adherence: Follow Writing Style Guide and adhere to company format standards in all technical documentation.
Technical Input Coordination & Editing: Coordinate and edit technical inputs from subject matter experts for grammar, clarity, accuracy, and consistency.
Technical Content Revision & Improvement: Review, revise, and improve technical content prepared by other departments for proposals to enhance readability, ensure compliance, and maintain technical accuracy without altering the original intent.
Complex Technical Topic Communication: Demonstrate the ability to research and write about complex technical and security topics in a way that is easily understandable to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Quality Program Participation: Actively participate in quality programs and initiatives designed to continuously improve the technical accuracy and overall quality of our proposal deliverables for customers.
Workshop Integration (Technical Focus): Participate in workshops (led by the Proposal Manager) and contribute to the development of compelling statements and executive summaries from a technical perspective.
Technical Specification Comprehension & Translation: Possess the ability to comprehend detailed technical specification documents and convert that information into clear and client-facing deliverables such as technical solution descriptions and frequently asked questions, in collaboration with other associates.
Information Architecture & Clarity: Determine the clearest and most logical way to present technical information and instructions to maximize reader comprehension; write and proofread easy-to-understand technical proposal content.
Content Reuse & Optimization: Analyze existing and potential technical content, focusing on opportunities for reuse and single-sourcing to improve efficiency and consistency.
Product & Technology Expertise: Research and build in-depth knowledge about client products, services, technologies, and concepts relevant to our proposals.
Visual Communication Collaboration: Work effectively with graphic designers to create and integrate graphics, illustrations, diagrams, animations, and charts that elaborate on and complement technical writing deliverables, enhancing the proposal evaluators’ understanding.
Subject Matter Expert Collaboration: Collaborate closely with technical and security subject matter experts to obtain a thorough understanding of the proposed solution and the specific documentation needs.
Technical Accuracy & Quality Assurance: Ensure the technical accuracy, writing quality, readability, and consistency of technical information across all proposal documentation.
AI Application for Technical Writing: Explore and apply Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools and methodologies to improve technical writing activities, creating new and effective ways of working and producing enhanced outcomes relevant to technical proposal content.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of technical writing experience specifically within the IT and cloud industry, with a strong understanding of security concepts and technologies.
- Bachelor’s degree in Technical Writing, Mass Communications, English, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent demonstrable experience.
- Excellent English written and verbal communication skills, with a proven ability to articulate complex technical concepts clearly and concisely.
- Strong research, writing, proofreading, formatting, and editing skills with a focus on technical accuracy and clarity.
- Highly proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Excel.
- Customer-focused approach with a dedication to understanding and addressing client needs through clear and accurate technical writing.
- Able to travel as needed, both domestically and internationally, up to 10%.
