Essential Duties:
- In conjunction with the Executive Editor, find and develop story ideas using internal and external resources
- Produce content for Industry Insider that is accurate, relevant, timely and interesting
- Update daily story budget for Industry Insider
- Build a network of sources within state and local government, as well as with external stakeholders relevant to the Industry Insider audience
- Conduct outward-facing activities, such as in-person meetings and other appearances, to maintain the visibility of Industry Insider
- Moderate in-person and online panels and discussions as needed
- Travel to events both to provide news coverage and to represent the company, as assigned and as schedule permits
- Assist colleagues with group projects and work coverage as needed
- Responsible for coordinating and attending required meetings that may include, but are not limited to:
- Government Technology’s weekly writers/editors meeting
- Daily and/or weekly coordination meetings for Industry Insider
- Meeting/communicating with copy editors to manage workflow
- Editorial calendar planning meetings
Skills/Qualifications:
- Superior writing/editing skills
- Problem-solving and strong research skills
- Ability to analyze data and facts
- Communication experience with the corporate world
- Networking/personable interaction with sources
- Computer knowledge
- Must be in a work environment with reliable Internet access
