Social Media Manager for Publisher The Crepuscular Press (Part-time) – $400/week for 11-12 hours
Part-time
$400/week for 11-12 hours
Flexible hours
The Crepuscular Press is seeking a social media manager to run its Instagram and TikTok accounts (@thecrepuscularpress).
Founded in 2022, TCP is a literary boutique imprint I founded to release aesthetic-focussed fiction and non-fiction. For the moment these have been my works, but I plan to expand the catalogue to others’ if the company can grow sufficiently in coming years.
The TCP TikTok and Instagram pages split their posts between TCP works and other literary titles. So far works published by The Crepuscular Press include women’s literary fiction saga The Crooked Little Pieces and award-winning biography The Callas Imprint: A Centennial Biography. Other content strongly focusses on literary fiction, dark academia and classics. The goal of the new social media manager will be to continue creating content in the current aesthetic with a view to expanding impressions and followings on Instagram and TikTok.
The applicant must have at least one of the following experiences:
- At least six months doing paid social media management in the literary industry
- Their own Bookstagram or BookTok, active or inactive, that accumulated at least 4000 followers.
The candidate must be experienced in cultivating strategies for social media growth. Given the niche nature of the imprint, applicants must also be closely familiar with books by authors such as Elena Ferrante, Sylvia Plath, Sally Rooney, Fredrik Backman, Annie Ernaux, Clarice Lispector, Hanya Yanagihara, Jeffrey Eugenides, Coco Mellors and others. Knowledge of Bookstagram and BookTok trends such as top reads per genre lists, book giveaways, unboxing and book hauls is also essential. The SM manager will be required to schedule posts at least ten days in advance, create four to five posts a week and contribute to engagement.
The first four months of this placement will be a trial period to see if the SM manager can employ consistently reliable strategies to grow followers in at least one account. During this period the weekly salary will be $400/week for eleven to twelve hours of work. Continuation in the role after four months will be contingent on the manager’s accomplishments. Although we at TCP appreciate that social media algorithms are extremely volatile, the company relies on a limited budget so allocation to organic social media growth must depend on its success rate.
If you have worked with publishers or authors or have experience in bookstagramming or booktoking, feel free to apply. A final decision won’t be made until mid-August. In the interim I’ll be interviewing and exchanging messages with candidates to help us make our final pick. Thanks in advance for your patience.
