Social Media and Communications Coordinator – $18 – $24 an hour
30Rights is a newly established human rights organization based in Texas. We work to defend and advance the fundamental rights of women and marginalized populations by challenging systemic injustice through bold advocacy, strategic rights enforcement, institutional accountability, and policy reform.
Our work combines advocacy and policy engagement in Texas with international grantmaking and partnership with grassroots human rights organizations.
As a new organization preparing for our public launch, we’re looking for someone who is excited about helping build our digital presence from the ground up.
The Role
This is a social-media-first role.
The Social Media & Communications Coordinator will work closely with the Founder & Executive Director to build, launch, and manage 30Rights’ social media presence.
We’re looking for someone who understands how organizations use social platforms effectively and can turn policy developments, advocacy work, research, and human rights issues into clear, engaging, visually compelling digital content.
Social media will be the primary focus of this position. The Coordinator will also support broader organizational communications and occasional press-related work, but we are specifically looking for someone who can bring social media skills, creativity, and digital instincts to the team.
This is an opportunity to have significant creative input into how a new advocacy organization develops its public voice and online community.
Responsibilities
Social Media & Digital Content
- Help develop and implement 30Rights’ social media strategy from the ground up
- Create engaging, accessible social media content related to human rights, Texas public policy, advocacy, and the organization’s work
- Develop graphics, carousels, short-form video, and other platform-appropriate content
- Manage day-to-day posting and help maintain a consistent content calendar
- Monitor relevant news, policy developments, legislative activity, and public conversations for timely content opportunities
- Help translate complex policy and human rights issues into clear, accurate, compelling content for broader audiences
- Track basic social media performance and use results to help refine content and strategy
- Help establish a consistent voice, tone, and visual presence across platforms
Communications Support
- Support organizational communications, including website content, newsletters, announcements, and other public-facing materials as needed
- Assist with occasional press and media-related communications
- Help identify opportunities to expand awareness of 30Rights and its work
- Support other communications projects as capacity allows
Because 30Rights is a new organization, this role will evolve. We’re looking for someone who is comfortable taking initiative, offering ideas, and growing alongside us.
Who We’re Looking For
We care more about demonstrated ability, judgment, creativity, and commitment to the work than a specific number of years of professional experience.
You may be a strong fit if you:
- Have experience creating social media content through professional work, internships, student organizations, volunteer work, advocacy, coursework, independent projects, or your own platforms
- Have a strong sense of what makes social content engaging and effective
- Are comfortable creating visually appealing digital content and have experience with tools such as Canva or similar platforms
- Are an excellent writer who can communicate complex ideas clearly and concisely
- Follow current events and are interested in public policy, advocacy, human rights, or social justice
- Have strong judgment when communicating about sensitive or politically complex issues
- Are organized, reliable, and comfortable working independently in a remote environment
- Are proactive and excited about contributing ideas rather than simply executing assigned tasks
- Bring genuine knowledge of and commitment to issues related to human rights, women’s rights, immigration and displacement, criminal justice, or related areas
Experience with nonprofit communications, advocacy, journalism, public relations, media relations, marketing, or policy communications is helpful but not required.
Familiarity with Texas public policy, politics, advocacy, or human rights issues is strongly preferred. Candidates outside Texas who demonstrate a strong interest in and ability to quickly learn the Texas policy landscape are encouraged to apply.
Current students and recent graduates with strong relevant experience are welcome to apply.
Schedule & Location
This is a fully remote, part-time position averaging approximately 12–16 hours per week.
Hours are flexible, although some availability during normal business hours will be needed for occasional meetings and collaboration. Weekly hours may vary somewhat depending on organizational and legislative activity.
Candidates may be based anywhere in the United States. Texas residency is strongly preferred but not required.
Compensation
$18–$24 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications.
How to Apply
Please submit the following to apply:
- Your resume
- A brief statement of interest telling us about your relevant experience and why 30Rights’ work interests you
- 2–3 examples of your work, including at least one social media example
Your social media sample may come from professional work, an internship, student or volunteer organization, coursework, an independent project, or a social account you have helped manage.
If you don’t have an existing social media sample, you’re welcome to create one specifically for your application. This could be a single post, carousel, graphic, or short-form video concept based on a Texas public policy or human rights issue of your choice. We’re interested in seeing how you take an issue and translate it into clear, engaging, visually effective social content—not whether you’ve already had the opportunity to do this professionally.
Additional samples may include social media content, graphics, articles, newsletters, campaign materials, or other communications work.
Please send applications to careers@30rights.org.
