Senior Narrative Writer – $69.06/hr – $85.11/hr
As a Narrative Writer, your experience and craft as a published and professional storyteller will help you drive creative initiatives that include dreaming up new champions, fleshing out their stories, and imagining their worlds, ultimately inspiring the artists and designers who will help produce them and the passionate players who will bring them to life.
Ultimately, it’s your love of gaming, passion for writing, and highly-polished portfolio of work that’ll position you to help players create their own unique narratives through play.
As a Senior Narrative Writer on 2XKO, you will primarily support narrative needs within Core Gameplay, Voice Over Team, and Champion Development. You will come up with innovative, and thematically cohesive solutions for product narrative needs. You will help mentor your fellow team members to continue to raise the narrative quality bar at the studio. You will report directly to the Narrative Director.
Responsibilities:
- Drive on character development through your craft and game development experience on a cross-disciplinary team
- Create and communicate characters’ personalities through narrative character design
- Deftly negotiate the creative space between cherished characters and the IP for the product, your team, and the players
- Create VO to communicate gameplay intent and character personality through VO lines in collaboration with the development team, VO directors and producers to bring our characters to life for players
- Ideate and create enthralling characters, environments and worlds through your writing
- Craft detailed documentation to support alignment on the core truths and personality of the characters and the world
- Continuously deliver concept assets that fulfill the requirements of the project’s game design and creative direction
- Collaborate with with artists, designers and other team members by providing and receiving creative/team feedback and providing clear creative goals and outcomes to your team
- Innovate and expand upon a globally recognized IP while defending its identity and core truths
Required Qualifications:
- 5+ years of narrative writing in gaming industry
- Established excellence in leadership of creative products on cross-disciplinary game development teams
- Professional experience crafting succinct, effective, and memorable VO lines for characters within a specific game context
- Professional experience developing new IP and working within existing IP
- Demonstrable ability to create the highest quality stories through themes, characters and worlds as shown in past professional or personal work samples from relevant media
- Extensive experience with technical game implementation through a variety of software tools for narrative deliverables and VO
Desired Qualifications:
- Experience shipping at least one AAA game title
- Fighting game genre experience
