Senior Financial Writer
As a Senior Writer, you will be deeply passionate about editorial operations, writing best practices, trending news, and creating data-driven content. With a growth mindset, you’ll be instrumental in expanding our reach by developing content that’s optimized to rank highly in search results and resonate with our publishing partners’ algorithms.
The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in content creation and digital media, along with a deep understanding of personal finance and the topics that drive audience interest. You will be skilled at analyzing data to identify new content opportunities and eager to experiment with cutting-edge tools like AI to enhance efficiencies. Sharing your work on social platforms and engaging with interview sources will be part of your role.
A positive attitude, a collaborative mindset, and a passion for content creation are essential. Ideally, you will be proactive, detail-oriented, and have exceptional editing and fact-checking skills. You’ll thrive in working with editorial experts, as well as cross-functional teams in product, design, and SEO. You should be motivated by ambitious goals and driven to achieve them.
HOW YOU’LL MAKE AN IMPACT
This role involves leading projects and mentoring junior team members to drive performance of audience growth both on GOBankingRates and on publisher partner sites. This role will also:
- Writing high-impact content, focused specifically on the strategy of increasing traffic through planned editorial content.
- Mentor/train new writers and provide feedback on overall writing quality to the full team
- Work closely with freelancers and the internal editorial team to execute against keyword research, targeting business-critical keywords and phrases.
- Contribute to the evolution of the GOBankingRates’ voice and authority in the personal finance space.
- Drive cross-team collaboration with other content leaders
- Submit and get approval on 15 blueprint titles and pieces of content per week.
- Other duties as assigned.
WHAT YOU’LL NEED
- At least 6 years of editorial experience for an online publication
- Experience using analytics tools to make editorial decisions
- Knowledge of digital media best practices and industry trends and experience implementing them in content pieces and plans
- BA/BS from a four-year accredited university or college, preferably with a degree in Journalism, and/or a similar field – or similar equivalent experience
- You’re an excellent project manager with great time management and strong organizational and people skills, plus a strong attention to detail.
