The Sr. Creative Writer develops evidence-based stories that showcase Curriculum Associates’ impact in school districts across the United States. In this role, you combine the craft, innovation, and curiosity of a writer with a talent for building strong relationships with stakeholder partners. You bring joy to your work, writing fresh narratives that connect with the desired audience and support organizational priorities. You comfortably vary voice, style, and tone to meet the diverse requirements of each assignment. As a senior-level contributor to the team, you proactively identify and pitch new story ideas to the Sr. Director, Writing Services and Communication and provide meaningful, constructive feedback to team members to advance their craft.
The impact you’ll have:
- Collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders at all phases of the content development and publication cycle
- Independently research, outline, develop, and write compelling, original short- and long-form content, including success stories, campaign copy, and related narratives
- Conduct meticulous research and analysis that withstand scrutiny for accuracy and applicability
- Develop content in alternative media forms for maximum usability, with a consistent and cohesive voice across all media
- Develop scripted material for interviews, videos, podcasts, and presentations
- Engage in cycles of feedback and revision, improving the quality of narratives in process as well as future pieces
- Manage the publication process, from obtaining client consent through the final stages of Workfront
- Contribute to continuous process and deliverable improvement, as well as functional documentation Provide expert editing and proofing to colleagues
- Undertake special projects, as assigned, and adapt flexibly to evolving organizational needs
Who we’re looking for:
- Exceptional, demonstratable writing and editing skills
- Strong planning, organization, project and time management, and execution skills
- Ability to influence and drive initiatives across other departments
- Proven experience developing and implementing creative concepts and copy
- Facility with research and analysis of education-related topics and data
- Strategic vision for enhancing the brand
- Ability to accept and grow from feedback
- Strong understanding of design and visual communication
- A growth mindset
- Bachelor’s degree in writing, marketing, journalism, or similar
- 7+ years’ experience as an effective creative writer and communicator
- Strongly preferred: K–8 or K–12 education experience
Travel: Less than twice per month
Benefits and Pay Range:
Pay Range – This role’s range is $69,250-$118,250. The wage range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that Curriculum Associates considers in making compensation decisions based on our Compensation Philosophy. Actual base pay within that range will vary based upon several factors including, but not limited to, prior experience and relevant skill sets. At Curriculum Associates, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances for each case. This role is also eligible to participate in the company bonus plan. The Company recognizes that minimum wage varies by location and will ensure all compensation decisions comply with applicable state and local laws.
