Senior Copywriter – $60,000 – $80,000 a year
The Senior Copywriter crafts emotionally resonant stories and persuasive fundraising copy that moves people to action. Through powerful storytelling across email, web, social, direct mail, and church resources, this role creates content that builds donor engagement while leveraging AI tools to optimize performance and reach. The position requires a writer who can balance compelling narratives with conversion-focused messaging.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Write high-converting fundraising copy for email, direct mail and digital campaigns.
- Develop donor journey content sequences for personalization.
- Write powerful feature stories that share the stories of the persecuted with US believers.
- Use AI tools to expand content development and optimize strategy and performance.
- Maintain brand voice and train freelancers.
- Work with the GCR project management team to improve the process for writing, editing, proofing, and publishing copy and content.
- Update website pages to improve accuracy and supporter experience.
- Ensure copy from agency partners aligns with GCR’s brand guideline, working directly to provide feedback and corrections.
- Work on multiple copywriting projects at once, maintaining strong quality, brand voice, and meeting schedules.
- Proofread and fact check all communications for spelling, grammar, punctuation, typographical errors, AP Style, and adherence to brand guidelines.
- Become a subject matter expert on Christian persecution, related news, and trends.
- Stay up to date on fundraising copywriting trends and report out to staff.
- Additional duties as assigned.
QUALIICATIONS
- 4+ years of experience in direct response fundraising, either for an agency, direct response firm or nonprofit organization.
- Bachelor’s degree in communication, marketing, English, journalism, or equivalent.
- Proven expertise using AI writing tools for optimization.
- Strong email copywriting skills and experience with direct response fundraising, experience with Marketing Cloud a plus.
- Experience using a CMS such as WordPress for updating website copy.
- Experience using AI to generate ideas, headlines, and copy suggestions to increase speed.
- A tactful approach when providing feedback and direction.
- Thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Meticulous proofreading and editing skills to ensure error-free, high-quality copy.
- Attention to detail and ability to prioritize simultaneous projects with tight timelines.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY
This position may manage and direct Content and Writing contractors.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
This job operates in a home office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and photocopiers.

POSITION TYPE/EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK
This is a full-time position and hours of work and days of work are generally Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. However, evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
