Role Overview:
We are seeking a Script & Content Director to take ownership of our content review process, ensuring our maritime-focused scripts are accurate, engaging, and optimized for YouTube. This role requires a critical thinker who can analyze scripts holistically, verify logical flow, and ensure clarity. The ideal candidate will not only provide technical, critical, and essential feedback but will also lead the team in identifying necessary script changes and improvements. This person will play a pivotal role in shaping both individual scripts and the overall content strategy. A strong background in the maritime industry is not required, but the candidate must possess excellent critical thinking skills and a keen sense of what needs to be changed in a script to improve clarity and impact.
Core Responsibilities:
- Take full ownership of the script review process, replacing the current oversight role.
- Lead the team in assessing what needs to change or improve in scripts.
- Critically evaluate scripts for clarity, coherence, and logical flow.
- Assess the overall quality and effectiveness of script content.
- Verify technical accuracy, especially within maritime-related topics, ensuring complex concepts are well-explained.
- Provide structured feedback to ensure scripts are engaging, informative, and YouTube-friendly.
- Identify and suggest improvements to strengthen content and messaging.
- Ensure scripts align with the channel’s standards and audience expectations.
- Push for the inclusion of essential maritime technical concepts where needed.
- Collaborate closely with the Creative Lead and Producer to refine content ideas and develop an optimized content calendar.
- Engage in constructive discussions with the production team to refine ideas.
- Oversee and refine video topic ideas to ensure they are compelling and YouTube-ready.
- Assist in structuring a cohesive content calendar to maintain quality and strategic direction.

- Capable of identifying weak points in scripting and voiceovers.

- Goes beyond basic grammar and structure edits to ensure content excellence.
- Acts as a quality assurance specialist for scripts and overall content.
- Leads the creative review process, ensuring all content meets a high standard.
- Has a strong sense of content judgment, storytelling effectiveness, and platform-specific optimization.
- Ensures scripts are not just technically sound but also engaging, digestible, and well-suited for YouTube’s audience.
Additional Production Responsibilities:
- Provide some oversight in the production process to ensure script execution aligns with intended quality.
- Audit and assess the content being produced by the team for consistency and excellence.
- Ensure that each piece of content is double and triple-checked for the highest quality.
- Lead discussions on the long-term creative vision of the channel.
- Work closely with the Creative Lead and Producer to align content strategy with production goals.
- Understand and apply the principles of what makes maritime content engaging, informative, and successful on YouTube.
