Penguin Random House hiring Associate Production Editor
Penguin Random House is seeking an Associate Production Editor to work with various Penguin Publishing Group imprints within the Corporate Bookmaking division. This person will report to the Executive Director, Production Editorial, and will have an opportunity to work on all phases of bookmaking, from manuscript to bound books, as well as on eBooks for adult fiction and nonfiction titles.

Specifically, the Associate Production Editor will:
- Prepare manuscripts and offsets for production
- Hire freelancers to copyedit manuscripts, proofread typeset pages, and create indexes
- Supervise and check freelancers’ work
- Review authors’ and proofreaders’ pages
- Copyedit covers and marketing materials
- Perform quality control on eBooks and update eBook files as needed
- Maintain accurate data in databases
- Provide administrative support as needed
- Work on other production editorial projects as needed
Requirements:
- Minimum of two years’ experience in a production editorial environment or equivalent editing and project management experience
- Excellent copyediting, proofreading, and organizational skills
- Knowledge of The Chicago Manual of Style
- Must be able to work and review work electronically using the track changes function in Word and mark-up tools in Adobe Acrobat
- Ability to prioritize multiple assignments, work well under pressure, and consistently meet tight deadlines while maintaining quality of content
- Strong communication and writing skills
- Previous experience working on complex nonfiction books a plus
This role is open to remote candidates.
The salary for this position is $61,000.00. All positions are currently eligible for annual profit award or bonus, subject to company results.
