Position Overview:
Business Insurance is seeking a full-time news editor to work remote in the U.S. to to help manage a busy digital and print production schedule. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with reporters to produce clear, accurate copy for a professional, expert audience.
Responsibilities:
The role includes, but is not limited to, the following duties:
· Edit daily news stories, analysis pieces and in-depth features.
· Write and refine headlines for daily web coverage and bi-monthly print editions.
· Prepare stories for web publication (formatting, links, SEO basics as needed).
· Post stories to the website.
· Summarize and edit web stories into print news briefs.
· Proofread and process pages using InCopy.
· Proof and review data pages and directories for accuracy and consistency.
· Monitor news wires and other sources for story opportunities.
Qualifications:
· 10+ years of full-time experience in business editing.
· Strong copy-editing skills, including rewriting copy when needed.
· Proven ability to work virtually and collaborate as part of a team.
· Self-starter with strong organization and time-management skills.
· Ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment while maintaining accuracy.
· Bachelor’s degree or equivalent relevant experience.
· Working knowledge of AP style.
· Experience with social media strategies.
Salary Range: $70,000 – $90,000 annually (commensurate with experience and qualifications).
