News Editor – $40,000 and $60,000/Year

The Epoch Times seeks news editors. Ideal candidates should be grounded in journalism ethics and dedicated to seeking the truth regardless of how it may contrast with personal bias or convictions.

Duties

  • Edit stories for accuracy, clarity, completeness, objectivity, grammar, spelling, organization, readability, and style
  • Write clear and informative headlines
  • Coordinate with reporters and editors to ensure consistency in style, tone, and quality
  • Perform detail-oriented, quality work on deadline
  • Work independently while understanding the necessity for communicating and coordinating with other employees and organizations
  • Adhere to the Society of Professional Journalists Code of Ethics and The Epoch Times style guidelines
  • Work flexible days and hours that may include nights and weekends

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in journalism is preferred
  • At least five years of newsroom, print, or online publication line editing, copy editing, or reporting experience
  • Preferred U.S. west coast states residence and knows about California culture and policies  

The annual base pay range for this role is between $40,000 and $60,000. The quoted salary range represents our good faith estimate as to what our candidates are likely to expect, and we tailor our offers within the range accordingly to the selected candidate’s experience, location, technical skills, and other factors.
