Longform Documentary Scriptwriter [True Crime/ Gangsta Rap] – $100-$600 Per Project
Description:
We’re one of the top documentary channels on YouTube, known for deep dives into the raw, unfiltered world of gangsta rap, drill music, and true crime. Our videos regularly hit millions of views — but we need help to keep things moving.
We’re now looking for a new scriptwriter who understands and is interested in the world of Gangsta Rap, True Crime and Street Culture — someone with a deep cultural knowledge and passion for these topics, and the ability to write scripts that are factually accurate and grip viewers from the first line to the last.
This role is:
- Remote
- Per-project
- Ideal for offshore talent — we’re a fully remote team and especially looking for writers in regions where our rates go further (competitive pay, but mindful of budget)
You should have:
- Experience writing essays, video scripts, or long-form content
- A deep interest in hip hop, gangsta rap, drill, and/or true crime
- A sharp eye for detail — factual, grammatical, and narrative. Common sense and an understanding of how to spot the facts from lies or false opinions.
- A unique tone that blends street knowledge with serious storytelling
- The ability to hit deadlines and adapt to notes quickly.
- Experience using modern research methods e.g. Reddit, Google Advance Search, Twitter advanced search etc.
Bonus points if you:
- Have written YouTube scripts before
- Know your stuff about Chicago drill music, Gang subreddits and street history.
- Can think like a journalist but write like a novelist
What you’ll get:
- A chance to work on projects viewed by millions
- A mysterious, high-standard team that values quality above all
- Long-term opportunities if the vibe is right
If this sounds like you, send:
- A short intro (no fluff, just vibes)
- 1-2 samples of your best writing (relevant topics = big plus)
- Your rate per script and a rough idea of how long an average script at this rate usually costs.
Let’s build something legendary.
