Lead Writer- Game & Film Theory | The Game Theorists
Theorist Inc. is seeking a skilled Lead Writer to develop, write, edit, and manage timelines for scripts on the YouTube channels “Game Theory” and “Film Theory.” The Lead Writer will be expected to:
- Generate high-quality outlines and scripts through research and storytelling in coordination with the writing team and Creative Directors of various channels
- Review and edit scripts from other writers for clarity, coherence, and creativity
- Facilitate communication between writing team and leadership team
- Provide feedback and support to full-time and freelance writers
- Manage script timelines and submissions using project management tools
- Use math and science-based research as evidence points in scripts
- Write creative sponsor integrations
- Communicate and collaborate with editors, writers, and Creative Directors
- Integrate media analysis techniques and insights into script creation
Ideal Candidate
Applicants should possess exceptional research abilities, a deep understanding of the persuasive essay format, and a knack for presenting and dissecting intricate topics in a fun and captivating way. Crafting scripts involves conducting thorough research, citing credible sources, and structuring the script to align best with the YouTube format. Knowledge of our presentation style and the YouTube space is preferred.
Job Requirements
- A passion for analyzing the storylines and lore of video games and movies, including and especially Independent Horror Games and ARGs
- Demonstrated experience writing for digital video platforms, preferably YouTube
- High level of media literacy and the ability to perform meta-narrative analyses
- Ability to provide constructive and clear feedback to supporting writers
- Project and timeline management experience in a production or writing environment
- Flexibility to meet deadlines and adapt to evolving project needs
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and a collaborative mindset
- Portfolio containing previous writing work in pop culture, fandom media, or science communication
- Familiarity with various Theorist channels
