Journalist, Estate Four – From $3,200 a week
We estimate this project to be 2-3 months of full-time, contract work.
We’re building a new business education platform focused on strategic thinking, decision-making, communication, and practical business frameworks.
The core ideas, structure, and initial drafts already exist. Most articles are approximately 50–70% complete before they reach you. We’re looking for a skilled writer and editor who can take those drafts and transform them into polished, engaging, publication-ready content.
This is not a content marketing role focused on SEO, clickbait, or high-volume article production. We’re looking for someone who can help bring ideas to life through strong storytelling, clear writing, thoughtful examples, and consistent editorial craftsmanship.
The content should feel similar in spirit to authors such as Cal Newport, Chip & Dan Heath, Malcolm Gladwell, and Steven Levitt & Stephen Dubner — intellectually rigorous while remaining highly approachable and engaging.
What You’ll Be Working On
You’ll be helping refine and complete approximately 100–120 articles covering topics such as:
- Strategic thinking
- Communication frameworks
- Decision-making
- Leadership
- Organizational behavior
- Problem solving
- Business strategy
- Human behavior and psychology
Most articles will be in the 600–1,000 word range, though some may be longer.
What You’ll Do
- Edit and polish partially completed articles
- Strengthen flow, structure, readability, and narrative quality
- Maintain a consistent voice and style across a large content library
- Transform abstract concepts into engaging, real-world examples
- Conduct light research to identify supporting examples, stories, case studies, or analogies
- Collaborate primarily with the Founder and Head of Product to ensure content accuracy and alignment
- Help elevate articles from “good ideas” to compelling, publication-ready content
- Provide editorial recommendations when content, examples, or structure could be strengthened
What Success Looks Like
A successful candidate can:
- Take a draft that is 50–70% complete and make it feel fully developed
- Balance depth and accessibility
- Make complex ideas easier to understand without oversimplifying them
- Create natural transitions, stronger examples, and clearer narratives
- Maintain consistency across dozens of articles written over time
- Preserve the author’s thinking while improving the reader’s experience
What We’re Looking For
- Exceptional writing and editing skills
- Strong portfolio of business writing, journalism, thought leadership, feature writing, or similar work
- Ability to write in a clear, engaging, human voice
- Experience turning complex concepts into approachable content
- Strong interviewing and collaboration skills
- Ability to work independently while incorporating feedback
Preferred
- Background in journalism, editorial writing, publishing, business writing, or long-form content creation
- Experience writing or editing business books, white papers, educational content, or executive thought leadership
- Familiarity with topics such as strategy, leadership, psychology, communication, or organizational behavior
Important Note About AI
We are specifically looking for a writer and editor who relies on their own judgment, experience, and craft.
While AI tools may be used for administrative tasks or research support, the writing, editing, narrative development, and final deliverables must reflect genuine human thinking and editorial skill. We are hiring a writer, not a prompt engineer.
