IT Technical Writer – Up to $40/hr
CBTS has partnered with a client to identify an IT Technical Writer on a 3 month contract opening.
- Role can be fully remote if you can work/support EST business hours
- Candidates must be W2 eligible. No C2c/3rd party/W2 referrals allowed
Overview:
We are seeking a skilled IT Technical Writer to join our team on a contract basis. The ideal candidate will be responsible for reviewing, revising, and improving existing technical documentation to ensure clarity, accuracy, and usability.
Key Responsibilities:
- Audit, review, and update existing IT documentation, including SOPs, infrastructure diagrams, installation guides, runbooks, and internal knowledge base articles.
- Rewrite legacy documents to improve readability, structure, and alignment with current processes and technologies.
- Collaborate with subject matter experts across infrastructure, networking, and support teams to gather accurate and updated information.
- Ensure all documentation is consistent, comprehensive, and aligned with industry standards and internal style guidelines.
- Organize and standardize documentation in a way that is intuitive and user-friendly for technical and non-technical audiences.
- Maintain version control and change history for all documentation updates.
- Recommend and implement improvements to the documentation management process and platforms as needed.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a Technical Writer in an IT or infrastructure-focused environment.
- Strong ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear, concise, and user-friendly content.
- Experience updating outdated or legacy documentation.
- Familiarity with IT infrastructure terminology, systems, and operations (e.g., servers, networks, cloud platforms).
- Proficiency with documentation tools (e.g., Confluence, SharePoint, MS Word, Adobe Acrobat, Markdown editors).
- Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and communication abilities.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently in a fully remote environment.
Preferred:
- Experience working in an enterprise or hybrid cloud IT environment.
- Background in working with Infrastructure or DevOps teams.
