IT Technical Writer – $35 – $38 an hour
- We are seeking an experienced IT Technical Writer to join our team, specifically for the SoftwareAG Alfabet application. Alfabet is a premier enterprise architecture and IT portfolio management software that enables organizations to manage their IT portfolios effectively and plan for future innovation. In 2025, PG&E IT Asset Management will be upgrading Alfabet to its latest version, which will significantly enhance the user interface and user experience. The Technical Writer will be instrumental in supporting this upgrade by developing comprehensive training materials, documentation, and other essential resources.
Key Responsibilities:
- Documentation Development:
- Translate complex technical information related to the Alfabet application into clear, user-friendly documentation.
- Create and maintain various documentation types, including policies, procedures, user manuals, training materials, job aids, and quick reference guides.
- Ensure all documentation complies with PG&E GDI (Guidance Document Initiative) standards.
- Project Management:
- Develop task analyses and documentation plans to establish project goals, content, parameters, and deadlines for the Alfabet upgrade.
- Manage documentation projects, tracking deliverables, schedules, and resource requirements.
- Collaboration and Consultation:
- Work closely with subject matter experts to gather information and develop accurate document content.
- Provide operational consulting for document/content development related to the Alfabet application.
- Design, develop, and manage SharePoint sites for policies and procedures specific to Alfabet.
- Quality Assurance:
- Ensure the technical accuracy, quality, and business compliance of all documentation.
- Produce final documents and maintain document systems.
- Training and Support:
- Develop training materials and resources to support the Alfabet upgrade.
- Create Word, Excel, and PowerPoint templates, as well as graphics such as flowcharts and organization charts. Qualifications:
- Education:
- BA/BS in English, Technical Writing, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
- Experience:
- Minimum of 6 years of related work experience in technical writing.
- Proven experience in content management, process improvement, and project management in the development of a wide range of business documentation deliverables.
- Skills and Competencies:
- Advanced knowledge and application of documentation technologies and processes.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Proficiency in the use of MS Office and SharePoint.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Demonstrated ability to lead project teams.
