Freelance Grant Writer (Remote – Project-Based)
Juru Consulting is a research-driven consulting and coaching firm that helps purpose-driven organizations, entrepreneurs, and social-impact ventures across Europe, Africa, and globally. We design data-based strategies, secure funding, and build systems that support sustainable growth and human impact.
We work only with clients who have a clear and genuine mission. Our partners are individuals and organizations contributing to humanity through their creativity, knowledge, and purpose. Joining Juru Consulting means joining a network that turns meaningful ideas into measurable and funded impact.
This role offers the opportunity to contribute to social transformation without being tied to one organization. You will help diverse businesses, nonprofits, and foundations access the resources they need to grow and serve.
Role Overview
Juru Consulting is expanding its global team of grant writers. Writers will research funding opportunities, draft proposals, and prepare submission packages for both clients and internal projects. This is a commission-based contractor position, ideal for independent professionals who value flexibility, results, and purpose-driven work.
Compensation Model
- Juru Consulting operates on a transparent success-based model. Writers receive 40% of the success fee once client funds are released.
- For unfunded applications, a €50 flat fee applies.
- There is no upfront pay.
- Writers can choose the types of grants they focus on. Those pursuing larger or more complex proposals will have the opportunity to earn higher commissions, while those focusing on smaller and simpler grants can complete more applications with faster turnaround.
- Example: If Juru Consulting earns €10,000 for a larger funded grant, the writer earns €4,000. And if Juru Consulting earns €1000 for a smaller funded grant, the writer earns €400.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify relevant funding opportunities (EU, global, government, and foundation-level).
- Conduct research, write, and edit grant proposals and supporting documents.
- Collaborate with Juru Consulting’s lead consultant for feedback and review.
- Maintain version control and meet submission deadlines.
- Upload and track all project information and drafts in Clickup.
Requirements
- Strong English writing and research skills.
- Dutch and French language skills are highly preferred. Candidates fluent in these languages will have access to a wider range of projects.
- Grant writing experience is not required, but any writing background (research, journalism, academic, or technical writing) is highly valued.
- Ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and communicate clearly.
- Understanding of grants, subsidies, government programs, and EU and global funding systems.
- Professional, detail-oriented, and reliable.
- Alignment with Juru Consulting’s values of ethical, purpose-driven work.
Internal Workflow
To maintain clarity and transparency, Juru Consulting follows a structured process:
- Lead Intake: Juru Consulting and its writers research and upload potential grant opportunities to ClickUp. Each writer is responsible for sourcing opportunities in their areas of interest.
- Project Assignment: The grant lead is assigned to a specific writer for development.
- Preparation: The writer ensures all necessary client information and supporting documents are received from Juru Consulting.
- Internal Review: Juru Consulting reviews all drafts for quality, accuracy, and alignment with the client’s objectives.
- Final Submission: Juru Consulting finalizes and submits the proposal.
- Tracking: Proposal status is tracked (Pending, Funded, or Not Funded).
- Payment Release: Once client funds are released, Juru Consulting pays the writer 40% of its fee. For unfunded applications, a €50 flat fee applies.
