Freelance Food News Writer – Chowhound – $21 an hour
Steady assignments. Reliable pay. Static Media is looking for enthusiastic, experienced freelance writers to join our food news team. We own and operate seven food brands: Chowhound, Daily Meal, Food Republic, Foodie, Mashed, Tasting Table, and The Takeout. Writers typically contribute to one brand, but may occasionally be asked to switch or write across multiple food brands. This opening is specifically for Chowhound, with the possibility of contributing to other brands in the future.
Ideal candidates have at least three years of experience writing content for print or the web with a focus on food, cooking, and dining content. We are looking for creative individuals who are self-sufficient and versatile. The position is work-from-home with flexible, stable hours. Location does not matter; U.S. and international candidates are encouraged to apply.

News Writer Responsibilities:
- Claim news and evergreen article topics from a selection of assignments
- Research and write 300- to 900-word articles in a custom CMS
- Write content on a quick turnaround as applicable
- Follow the guidelines of our style guide, editorial strategy, and publishing standards to uphold quality of content

What You’ll Need:
- At least 3 years of editorial experience (writing and/or editing)
- Comfort working in a CMS
- Familiarity with the Associated Press Stylebook and strong command of grammar and structure
