Freelance Annotator – Podcast Research
Join a research initiative focused on mapping the structural DNA of world-class long-form conversations. This project seeks a managed team of annotators—writers, linguists, or media students—who will apply a qualitative labeling schema to podcast transcripts. The goal is to analyze and annotate the rhetorical and structural dynamics of conversations, identifying narrative arcs, speaker roles, and key conversational moves. Your work will directly contribute to a model designed to generate long-form speculative fiction by leveraging insights from non-fiction dialogue.
Deliverables
- Apply detailed qualitative labeling to podcast transcripts using a provided schema
- Identify and annotate narrative arcs, speaker roles (e.g., Challenger, Explorer), and structural moves such as reframing and synthesis
- Collaborate with the research lead to ensure consistency and accuracy in annotation
- Provide feedback on the labeling schema to improve clarity and effectiveness
- Meet project deadlines and maintain high standards of data quality
Requirements
- Background in writing, linguistics, media studies, or related fields
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
- Ability to interpret and apply complex annotation guidelines
- Experience with qualitative research or transcript analysis is a plus
