The Morgan Horse Magazine Seeks Editor
January 7, 2026
The American Morgan Horse Association (AMHA) is pleased to announce an opening for the position of Editor of The Morgan Horse magazine—one of the equine industry’s most respected and enduring breed journals.
Published continuously since October 15, 1941, The Morgan Horse magazine (TMH) is AMHA’s official publication and a cornerstone of the Morgan horse community. Owned and operated by AMHA, the magazine plays a vital role in advancing the Association’s mission to preserve, promote, and perpetuate the Morgan horse.
The successful candidate will step into leadership of a strong, thriving publication, following the retirement of a highly respected Editor who has guided TMH with distinction for the past 17 years. This is a rare opportunity to build upon a legacy of excellence while shaping the future vision of a publication that reaches a passionate and dedicated audience.
The Editor will join a small, collaborative, and highly committed team producing eight issues per year. TMH is widely regarded as one of the most vibrant and engaging breed journals in the equine industry, and we are seeking a motivated, skilled professional ready to assume the helm. This is a remote position, fully supported by the resources and infrastructure of both AMHA and The Morgan Horse magazine.

The Editor of TMH will receive a competitive base salary and a comprehensive benefits package as outlined in the AMHA Employee Handbook, including:
- Health, dental, and vision insurance
- Life insurance
- Short- and long-term disability insurance
- Paid holidays and vacation time
Flexibility may be available for additional compensation through advertising sales commissions for appropriately qualified candidates who wish to assume expanded duties such as ad sales, travel, or invoicing. Travel expenses and per diem costs are paid directly by TMH when applicable.
