Job Description
Responsible for providing creative copy for a wide range of media including direct mail circulars, signage, advertising, and promotional literature. It will also provide high-quality, high-speed proofreading services of page content, product copy, and pricing for all printed material including retail circulars and direct mail pieces.
Responsibilities
- Develops product copy to support the business and marketing objectives of the client. Retrieves, edits, and updates copy from an existing product copy database
- Works on high-profile accounts that are complex, non-routine, and vary greatly in scope
- Establishes priorities for assigned tasks for self and others and often works concurrently on multiple complex tasks
- Works with client’s merchant and legal staff to develop an approved copy database to facilitate the copywriting and editing process
- Works with designers to incorporate copy into the final piece
- Gathers essential communication objectives from client meetings, briefings, interviews, and research
- Conceptualizes and determines product features for new items, converting them into compelling reader benefits
- Proofreads for style, grammar, punctuation, logos, photo and copy relationships, spelling, and overall style consistency
- Quality checks page layouts for type characteristics and adherence to layout style
- May check the work of others
- Performs other related duties and participates in special projects as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in an area related to function of work desired with 3+ years of relevant work experience
- Able to consistently apply applicable policies, procedures, regulations, and program objectives when carrying out the duties of the job
- May provide oversight of work conducted by junior level staff and/or review/audit work for accuracy
- Must have advanced knowledge of technology to include computers and software programs such as MS Office or MAC word processing, spreadsheets or other programs specific to the job in order to complete job duties successfully
- Must have excellent oral and written communication skills to communicate effectively across departments when completing assignments
- Must have strong organizational skills with ability to manage deadlines and prioritize workload and make adjustment to meet business needs
- Demonstrated expert working knowledge of copywriting
- Must possess a strong portfolio of imaginative work
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Word/Excel, Quark Xpress and Internet research abilities
- Ability to provide creative concepts and understand a high-level of retail advertising
Additional Information
RRD’s current salary range for this role is $68,300 to $105,200/ year. The salary range may be adjusted based on the applicable geographic location of the hired employee, and the range may change in the future. At RRD, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions may vary based upon, but not limited to education, skills, experience, proficiency, performance, shift and location. Depending on the role, in addition to base salary, the total compensation package may also include participation in a bonus, commission or incentive program.
