Copywriter, PWHL League Office – $60,000 to $65,000/year
The Professional Women’s Hockey League is seeking an experienced and passionate Copywriter. The Copywriter is responsible for writing sharp copy across all platforms. The role will work across teams to create copy that continues to build awareness, create cultural relevance and drive engagement and demand for tickets and merchandise via best-in-class copy writing. This position will partner closely with cross-functional teams to further the PWHL’s long-term strategic approach to content creation and growth.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develops and writes creative and engaging content for various marketing materials for the PWHL and all markets, including but not limited to website copy, emails, creative advertising campaigns, scripts and a variety of social media platforms.
- Uses storytelling techniques to create compelling narratives that resonate with our existing fans and create new fans.
- The primary responsibility will be short-form marketing copy, but will have ability to write longer in a more feature-friendly style
- Collaborates with internal teams, teams within the league, and external partners to understand brand voice and messaging, and ensure all content aligns with the company’s tone and values content and maintain a consistent brand voice.
- Works with cross-functional teams to ensure all written content is delivered on time and meets project deadlines.
- Coordinates with the marketing and communications teams to align content with overall branding and promotional initiatives.
- Contributes to brainstorming sessions and provide creative ideas for marketing campaigns and initiatives.
- Edits and proofreads all written content to ensure it is error-free, grammatically correct, and consistent with brand guidelines.
- Responsible for following the league and its teams, players and business partners closely to know what storylines to pitch and push.
- Upholds the league’s professional image and values across all written content.
- Adheres to team and league brand standards including look and feel, tone, and brand voice.
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications or a related field.
- Proven experience as a Copywriter, preferably in the sports or entertainment industry.
- Proficient in Adobe Creative Cloud platforms.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Creative mindset with the ability to think outside the box.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, to cover live events.
- Ability to meet deadlines in a face-paced and dynamic environment.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
