Position Overview:
The Copywriter supports the marketing team by crafting clear, engaging, and mission-driven copy across digital, print, and campaign materials. Under the supervision of the Creative Director, this role produces content that inspires support, drives action for advancement, fundraising, and disaster relief efforts, and ensures alignment with the organization’s voice and brand values.
Responsibilities:
- Write intelligent, compelling copy that aligns with brand and/or campaign style guidelines and meets or exceeds expected standards
- Create engaging, mission-driven content for various channels including website, email campaigns, digital media campaigns and other donor & lead generation CRM
- Deliver content development requirements to deliver on editorial content calendars, fundraising and advancement communications
- Collaborate with programming and growth teams to translate complex and sensitive information and experiences into accessible, impactful narratives
- Understand and own the relevant data, impact, and stories for communication
- Manage and ensure brand consistency within messaging frameworks and brand standards across all written communications
- Adapt tone and messaging for diverse audiences, including individual, major, and corporate donors, volunteers, partner communities, and strategic audience segments within these audience classifications
- Collaborate with the Senior Copywriter and creative colleagues to brainstorm concepts and support integrated campaign storytelling
- Conduct background and ongoing market research and fact-checking to ensure accuracy, relevance, and impact of messaging
- Edit and proofread own work and peer content, maintaining high standards of clarity, accuracy, and consistency
- Implement feedback and revisions promptly, applying best practices in branding and nonprofit and cause-driven communication
- Assist in maintaining the organization’s content library and style guides
Minimum Education/Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, English, or related field
- 1–3 years of professional writing, copywriting, or content creation experience; nonprofit sector experience preferred
- Strong understanding of brand standards and creative review processes
- Growth mindset demonstrating openness to seek and receive feedback, with a commitment to excellence
- Skills in writing, editing, and research skills; ability to convey emotional and urgent appeals in a clear, motivating style
- Dedication to fostering a diverse, inclusive, and collaborative work environment
- Familiarity with digital advertising, publishing, and CRM/email marketing platforms and best practices
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced, collaborative environment
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (specifically Word, Excel and PowerPoint)

This position is fully remote. The employee is expected to work 40 hours per week from 9am – 5 pm in their time zone from Monday – Friday.
