CreativeOPTIC is hiring for a Copy Editor associate to join our Digital Marketing (remote) team based in Los Angeles, California. **This role is unpaid with the possibility of a full-time position. This role provides perfect room to build your portfolio with an up-and-coming digital media and branding agency**
As a Copy Editor, you will ensure all CreativeOPTIC News content is produced accurately, aligning with our editorial style guide and writing engagements for online and offline content. You will be responsible for the editing of both long-form and short-form content both independently and in a team setting. You will be collaborating closely with partners across the organization including our Communication Manager, copywriters and key executives to heighten awareness of our brand content and drive user engagement through social media channels.

The Role:
The ideal candidate will be part research analyst, social strategist, and written storyteller with a passion for the online social experience. This role requires stellar fact-checking and high creative acumen and linguistic skills. The ability to respond to constructive feedback and acceptance of real-time – user-generated feedback.
The Environment:
CreativeOPTIC. is a 24-hour network that requires staff who are flexible and available to work various shifts, including early morning, late evenings, weekends, and/or holidays.

Major Duties/Responsibilities:
Proof Read and edit a variety of compelling long and short-form content, which may at various times include:
- Articles and/or promotional copywriting,
- Rewriting text to improve clarity and readability,
- Website content,
- Emails,
- Social media/social assets,
- Web banners,
- Video content,
- Scripts and other marketing writing.
- Verify factual correctness of information, such as dates and statistics
- Editing digital content that meets project goals and end user needs for complex efforts
Checking text to ensure it is well written, logically structured and in the right style for the intended audience
Correcting grammar and spelling
Ensuring the text is in line with the publisher’s ‘house style’ – for example, that hyphens, capital letters and optional spellings are used consistently
Checking facts
Raising queries with the Contributor/ Author
Being alert to any potential legal problems in the text, such as libellous statements or breach of copyright, and discussing them with the publisher team
Checking illustrations and captions are correct.
Contribute to the development of new ideas and create polished, final deliverables alongside the creative team.
Able to ensure consistent use of voice and tone across all marketing materials and stay aligned with the brand guidelines
Meets deadlines while handling multiple ongoing editing projects
Proactively offer ideas for content, promotions, social media and other initiatives
Fearlessly willing to jump in and figure out the creative writing challenge at hand
Qualifications:
- Proven marketing/social media copyediting experience (preferably B2B or Intern experience).
- Ability to develop concepts into themes and apply a creative approach to a topic.
- Likes working with a team to brainstorm content ideas.
- Self motivated, positive, creative, innovative thinker and multi-tasker with the ability to prioritize and manage time strategically
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing, English, writing, journalism or related field preferred
- Excellent English skills, with superb writing abilities in various diverse styles/tones with accurate spelling and grammar (samples are appreciated)
- A profound comprehension of customers and what motivates them
- Strict adherence to brand guidelines and company policy
- Extraordinary research, organizational, and learning abilities
- Deep understanding of software like Microsoft Word and Google Docs
- Online article formatting skills, and an experience with keyword arrangement and other SEO best practices
